Also known as Potter, Tailor, Soldier and Spy, the name of Spy Action (Taiwan Province) is actually a nursery rhyme of Mother Goose collected from the British. The story is set in the cold war. The British intelligence organization "Circus" and the Russian spy agency "Center" are both active in the spy network of the world. At that time, Carla, the head of the center, was plotting to ambush a chess piece inside the circus. As a double-faced spy, this hidden "hamster" occupies an important position in the circus, and five high-level people are the most suspected. Ironically, in nursery rhymes, they were used as code names for "tinker, tailor, soldier, poor man and beggar" by the last person in charge of the circus "boss".
George smillie (Gary Oldman, Gary Oldman) had left the circus at that time and lived an unbearable forced retirement life. He was originally a "beggar" suspect, but after the death of his boss, the investigation of this matter was cut off. One day, when Peter Giram (benedict cumberbatch, benedict cumberbatch), who has now become the leader of the action group-scalping group, came to see him, together with Lacan, the general supervisor in charge of espionage in the British Cabinet Office, he listened to the information that the shrewd field worker Ricky Tal (Tom Hardy, Tom Hardy) accidentally learned from Russia during an action. People think there is a mole in the circus, and the boss is very ill. Smillie was also ordered to go out to work as a pot maker-Loehlein (Toby Jones, Toby Jones), a tailor-romantic talent Bill Haydn (Colin Felsko Fells), a senior spy soldier in charge of Eastern European affairs-Roy Brand (Ciarán Hinds, Ciarán Hinds), and a poor man-Toby Easthaas (David Danshik, david dencik), the head of the street lamp group in the logistics department. This film is based on the original work of the same name by John Le Carre.
John le carre, formerly known as David Conwill, was born in England in 193 1. At the age of 18, he was recruited by British military intelligence to work as a spy for East Berlin. After retiring, he studied modern languages at Oxford University and then taught French and German at Eton College. 1959 joined the British Foreign Office and started writing at the same time. 1963, he became famous with his third book, Berlin Spy. The famous novelist Green praised: "This is the best spy novel I have ever read!" Since then, he has established his position as a master of literature.
It's a remake, not a remake
As a screenwriter of the old version, the novelist John le carre has always wanted to shoot The Tinker, The Tailor, The Soldier and The Spy again. His idea of remake is not groundless, but he hopes to reawaken the charm of this classic cold war novel in the new era. The gloomy, horrible and dangerous panic in the original makes him feel that this novel is very suitable for adaptation into a film with main atmosphere and suspense. However, what Kerry wants is not a remake, but a rewriting of the novel, which is a new movie.
Kerry's idea was supported by Peter Morgan (the Queen, the last king of Scotland, and the dialogue between Foster and Nixon). The screenwriter who is good at describing political stories said: "The original novel is a classic Cold War spy war drama. As a screenwriter, what I have to do is to express the most contemporary and dramatic content. Because the original is a delicate and plump masterpiece, if it is adapted, it can only cut off a lot of sideline and details drastically, leaving only the most typical and shining plots and characters. Moreover, the details of this novel are very detailed, so I can only express these contents with a lot of notes in the script of the first draft. Of course, the script is not the most important part of the film, but for those who have read the novel, the script can be distinguished at a glance. So I chose to abridge, but I didn't modify the adaptation method of the novel plot. The purpose is to be faithful to the original novel and let the audience have a perceptual understanding of the novel after watching the movie. "
Tomas Alfredson said: "When I first met John le carre, he was very clear about his wish-to make a movie version of The Tinker, Tailor, Soldier and Spy. He told me not to follow the original novels and not to remake the TV series because they already exist. I made my own Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Of course, I don't have the ability to make all 349 pages of the original book into a movie. But I can always find a way to shoot the theme of the novel and some key plots in the movie and express what I see. I think we have made a good work that is loyal to the original. Perhaps in today's society, the preservation of these two contents is too rare, so it seems that this film is so valuable? "
English team
"Harry Potter" series let fans all over the world see the wonderful performance of the British actor team. Similarly, in this film, actors from all over Britain also brought dazzling performances. Alfred Sen, the director, said: "This film is a great test of the actors' performance skills, because everyone is not innocent in some way." Moreover, in such a complicated environment, everyone can only hope for self-protection and have their own small abacus. So it is difficult to show such a delicate and chaotic state. Thanks to the British actors, their temperament and their handling of details, this film can present such a texture. Among these roles, Gary Oldman is the most urgent one. The whole movie is almost made up of his acting skills. It can be said that if I didn't have Odeman, then this movie would probably be aborted. Choosing Odeman is also a very difficult process, because his image and temperament are very different from the original actor Alec kinnis and his novels. Choosing him means a certain degree of adventure. However, I think Gary Oldman has brought many different feelings to the film with his own image and performance. "
In order to play his role well, Gary Oldman made a lot of preparations, such as choosing a pair of glasses for himself in an optical shop, eating a lot of sweets to gain weight, and making himself more like a middle-aged man exhausted by life and work. Moreover, he made a special trip to visit John Le Kerry, the author of the novel, and imitated many of Kerry's body language and intonation. Gary Oldman said, "Although Kerry is not an actor but a writer, I still think he has George smillie's DNA. So these little details are very helpful for me to shape the characters. " Regarding the carefully selected glasses on his face, Gary Oldman said: "This is the symbol of smillie, equivalent to Aston Martin and Martini in 007, and it is an indispensable element. So I attach great importance to it. I think this is not only the product of the character itself, but also a prop that can show the character and psychology. This film is the first English film directed by Tomas Alfredson.
The film was shot in London, Budapest and Istanbul. The shooting time is 2065438+001from October 7th to February 22nd.
The photographer and editor of this film worked with director Tomas Alfredson on the famous Let the Right People in.
Michael Fassbender originally wanted to play a role in this movie, but due to the conflict between the shooting schedule and X-Men: Teenagers, his role was given to Tom Hardy.
Peter Morgan wrote the first script of the film, and he plans to revise it and write the final script. However, due to the sudden death of his family, he gave up his screenwriter job.
After 30 months of casting, Gary Oldman was finally elected to the cast of this film.
In order to choose a suitable spectacle frame, Gary Oldman went to Alder Focas to choose a spectacle frame. After selecting hundreds of frames, he finally chose a black frame.
