There are two colleges and two majors.

Nanjing Art Institute, referred to as "Nanyi" for short, is the earliest independent institution with the strongest school-running strength in China. It is one of the six major art colleges in China, the only comprehensive art college in Jiangsu Province, and a university jointly established by the Ministry of Culture and the provincial offices of Jiangsu Provincial Government.

The predecessor of Nanjing Art Institute was the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts founded by Mr. Liu Haisu, the founder of China Fine Arts Education, in 19 12. 1930 was renamed Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, with Mr. Cai Yuanpei as the chairman of the board of directors of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, and 1959 was named Nanjing Academy of Fine Arts. It has developed into an influential comprehensive art college at home and abroad, and a new comprehensive art college with multi-disciplinary and multi-level education system. As of 20 13, it is the only university in China with five first-class disciplines and postdoctoral mobile stations in art.

According to official website, the school is located in the downtown area of Nanjing, where history and modernity complement each other. The school covers an area of more than 700 mu, with a school building area of 300,000 square meters. The total number of students in the school is 1 1394, including 9 145 undergraduates, 29 doctoral students 129 masters, 875 international students 120, 675 adult undergraduates and 450 affiliated middle school students.
