What have you learned from the differences and integration of Chinese and western painting?
First, the differences between Chinese and western painting concepts-two kinds of painting are two dominant concepts: generally speaking, western painting emphasizes realism, while Chinese painting emphasizes artistic conception.
Looking at Chinese painting, we should focus on similarity and dissimilarity, and feel the humanistic spirit embodied in the painting and the interest pursuit of traditional intellectuals in China;
Western painting, on the other hand, pursues things like human anatomy and geometric composition, and the picture is similar to photography. And some post-modernist things are integrated into the stream of consciousness.
Chinese paintings of landscapes, flowers and birds often contain symbolic meanings; Western painting landscape and still life painting mainly pursue the beauty of the picture.
The scenery of Chinese painting does not pay attention to depicting the light and color changes on the object, but pays attention to the charm of the scenery;
Western painting is restricted by scientific laws, that is, it is created according to the principles of perspective, anatomy and colorimetry. Western painting adopts focus perspective method; Chinese painting uses both scatter perspective and focus perspective.
Western paintings are painted in colors, leaving no blank. Chinese paintings pay attention to "counting white as black" and blank management. Line modeling in Chinese painting is an important means to express the author's thoughts and feelings;
Western painters also use lines to create images, but pay more attention to the quality, quantity and space of images.
Second, the integration of Chinese and Western painting art:
On the basis of inheriting traditional techniques, modern painters in China constantly absorbed foreign painting techniques, including sketching, oil painting, watercolor painting and other techniques, which greatly enriched the expression techniques of Chinese painting. Some painters are also constantly innovating in tools and materials, and skillfully combining the techniques of western painting with the traditional techniques of Chinese painting, which is undoubtedly a direction for the development of Chinese painting.
From the standpoint of carrying forward Chinese traditional culture and artistic spirit, combining the language form and modern concept of western oil painting, the combination of Chinese and Western not only systematically absorbs the essence of western oil painting, but also stands at the high starting point of traditional culture, integrating freehand brushwork as the core of its China elements, so that this foreign art not only maintains the "gene" of the development of western culture, but also survives in the "matrix" of eastern culture, forming the unique charm of China's freehand brushwork oil painting.
