What is dr

Dr is digital radiography.

Digital Radiography (DR) is also a new digital imaging technology, which has similar uses to Computer Radiography (CR), but its basic principle and structure are different. DR is developed on the basis of digital fluorescence photography (DF). It takes the image intensifier tube as the information carrier, receives the X-ray information transmitted through the human body, converts it into digital signals after being collected by the camera, and then carries out digital processing.

Different from CR, except the information carrier, it is not matched with other equipment and needs special equipment. CR can collect information through the imaging board on any X-ray imaging equipment. DR, like CR, can do post-processing of many kinds of images, and can transmit and store images.

Clinical significance of dr

Because of its own characteristics, the computer X-ray photography system is mainly used to cooperate with the traditional X-ray machine to realize the digitization of plain film information. Digital X-ray photography system can be used not only for X-ray plain film display, but also for gastrointestinal system, other systems and blood vessels. However, because the digital X-ray photography system can't match with multiple X-ray machines and the price of a single machine is relatively high, for a long time, computer X-ray photography and digital X-ray photography system will be complementary imaging methods to replace conventional X-ray photography.

One of the advantages of computer X-ray photography and digital X-ray photography system is that it has much greater X-ray sensitivity and dynamic range than conventional X-ray photography equipment, so it can greatly reduce the X-ray dose in examination, which is of certain significance to X-ray sensitive people, such as pregnant women and children, and the implementation of X-ray census application.
