Skills of shooting sunset and sunset

Sunset is a common theme for beginners and professional photographers, so what are the good ways to shoot sunsets? Here are five tips for your reference when shooting. Let's practice this weekend.

1. Make the sunset redder

When the weather is clear, or after the storm, the sky will be magnificent, and it is easy to photograph the fiery sunset. But if there is no magic color in the sky at ordinary times, we can also adjust the white balance of the camera (high K number or flash mode) to make the color warm. Although it may not turn "red", it will at least bring out the feeling of sunset.

Adjust the white balance, or add "saturation" to the camera's image settings, so the color will stand out!

Another point is that you can reduce exposure when shooting, and try not to overexpose, otherwise the sky will become too white and you can't see the sun.

2. Pay attention to the position of the sun in the photo

There are two main points in composition:

If the sun is the protagonist, it can be placed on the central axis; If the sun is just a foil, it can be placed at the intersection of the trisection.

3. The elements contained in the picture should be diverse.

Don't just shoot the sun, so the picture will become monotonous. A better way is to find something to set off, such as the silhouette of grass, shells on the beach and even clouds in the sky, which can also enrich your photos.

Sometimes you can turn the sunset into a foil, focus on other subjects, and blur the red sun with large aperture and shallow depth of field.

Shoot a bigger sunset

Wide-angle lens is often used to shoot scenery, but if you want to make the sunset bigger and more imposing, you can try to shoot with a telephoto lens (more than 200mm). Because the foreground and background are compressed, the sun will appear bigger.

5. Balancing light is more professional than taking photos.

Unless you want to take photos with backlight or silhouette, it is strongly recommended that you use a gradient gray filter or a black card (if the exposure time is enough) to balance the light ratio, so that the details of the ground will be revealed and you can take more professional photos. For the method of balancing light ratio, please refer to the article "The Secret of Black Card".
