What is the WB function on the camera? How to set the white balance?
The English for White Balance is white balance, and the key on the camera is WB.
In the words of Canon's introductory guide, white balance means that a SLR camera can recognize what is white in any light condition.
White refers to the visual response of light reflected to human eyes because of the same proportion of blue, green and red light and a certain brightness.
The purpose of making the camera recognize white is to make the camera automatically adapt to the ambient light like the human eye to restore the true color.
Set the white balance as follows:
1, see light source setting WB.
Set WB according to the light source. Most cameras preset WB for sunshine, cloudy days, light bulbs, incandescent lamps, etc. These settings are not difficult to use, as long as they are set according to the light source. So to put it bluntly, the first step in setting WB is to identify the light source and set it according to the light source.
It's just that many people don't pay attention and press the shutter whenever they go. They just need to look up at the light source, and the setting is much more convenient.
2. Set the image format
If you can't set the white balance in actual shooting, the best way is of course to use RAW. When saving JPEG, the white balance in the photo is fixed, so we can't modify it flexibly. RAW files are different, and we can easily adjust them without affecting the quality of photos. So shooting RAW files is a good way to adjust WB afterwards.
3, manual white balance
Want to have the most accurate color temperature, of course, is to use manual white balance, I believe all cameras now have manual white balance function. Manual white balance is generally to put white paper under a light source, and then measure the white paper with a camera to determine the white balance.
In fact, in addition to using white paper, it is also appropriate to use gray cards, which can also be used for metering, killing two birds with one stone. Whether it is white paper or gray card, we should pay attention to the placement position and reflect the light of the spot properly, because we are measuring the light of the spot. If the blank paper or grey card is not reflected, it is wrong.
For example, if the light source is a ceiling lamp, it is appropriate to place the white paper or gray card at an upward angle of 45゜, so that the light on it can shine on the camera instead of facing the camera.
Extended data:
The color temperature values in different environments present different picture effects:
1, when the color temperature is less than 3300 K, the color of the scene is reddish, which belongs to warm tone and has a warm and stable atmosphere effect;
2. When the color temperature is 3300-5000K, it belongs to the middle tone (white) and has a refreshing and clear atmospheric effect;
3. When the color temperature is more than 5000 K, the color of the scene is bluish, which belongs to cold tone and has cold atmosphere effect.
