Who said 3D printers must be imported? Kingsel 182 Delta 3D printer hands-on!
Pictured above: This time, Mr. Tang Haoyun, a lecturer from MakerBar Taipei, is specially invited to demonstrate how to operate the Kingsel 3D printer.
What is your impression of 3D printers? High-tech product? A designer’s best friend? Or an expensive toy?
Although the general public now has the opportunity to come into contact with this 3D printer, which is known as the core of the "Third Industrial Revolution", through Maker Faire, computer exhibitions and other activities, the high price, high The entry-level learning threshold and other factors have deterred ordinary people from going to Guanghua to buy one and use it just like we do when we buy a printer. Today, the child Ye Peiwen will show you the domestic Kingssel 3D printer pictured above. MakerBar Taipei instructor: Mr. Tang Haoyun will demonstrate and explain it for us ~

Kingsssel The 182 is different from the "box-type" 3D printers we often see in the news. The 182 adopts a "Delta-type" operation method, which has smoother printing quality for curved and spherical surfaces. In the past, most of these delta-style 3D printers were built by players purchasing their own parts. However, in order to reduce the difficulty of getting started with 3D printers, Kingssel allows designers who do not understand mechanics and electronics to easily purchase and use them. Therefore, in Most of the parts have already been installed when shipped, which greatly reduces the user's learning threshold.
Yes, you read that right, the Kingssel ships as a complete 3D printer! In addition to being usable right out of the box, mass production also gives the Kingssel 182 a more consistent and complete appearance. The overall black aluminum alloy surface treatment makes the Kingssel 182 different from the DIY assembly machines built by ordinary players. , the whole thing exudes an...industrial feel. I personally think it's very beautiful. Whether it's the aluminum alloy anodized appearance or the handsome carbon fiber nozzle control arm in the middle, etc., it all makes people feel like "Wow! So professional!" even if it is left alone for a long time. There won't be any eyesore on the table either.
In addition to a more integrated appearance and higher degree of completion, Kingssel 182 also changes the material of the nozzle control arm from common aluminum alloy to lighter "carbon fiber" material. This can greatly reduce the weight of the control arm, which will also reduce the burden on the nozzle position control motor.
If you want to say what is the most difficult part of operating this Kingsel 182, I think it is the "PLA line installation" that Mr. Tang Haoyun is doing in the picture above. The printing material used by this Kingsel 182 is PLA, which is one of the mainstream materials for 3D printers currently and has a lot of colors to choose from. Before printing, the bundle of PLA lines must be fed into the nozzle through the wire feeding motor (the hanging device on the left is the nozzle). This is the most "practice" step in the entire operation process.
(Additional: The correct way to feed material is to enter from the bottom hole. The picture above is to test whether the feeding is stuck) According to Haoyun, this Kingssel has a more convenient operation The wire clamp (the two springs next to the right thumb in the picture above) and the smooth wire feeding control motor, so although the initial feeding is still a little difficult, it is very, very simple compared to other products! And feeding not only requires a few practices to become proficient, but as long as you don’t change colors or just use up the entire roll of raw materials, you don’t need to reinstall the PLA line even if you shut down the machine! Therefore, Haoyun believes that the smooth operation of Kingssel 182 impressed him more than the difficulty of feeding materials. (A little trick is that when installing the wire, just twist the PLA wire slightly and you can successfully insert it if the position is correct.)
Most of the operations on the Kingsssel 182 can be done directly through the front of the printer. Although the 182 can also be controlled directly through the computer, if your printer is placed far away from the computer or it is inconvenient to connect to the computer, then directly put the files you want to print into the SD card and then Printing via the Kingssel 182's screen control is also a very convenient option.
What Haoyun demonstrated to us is the conversion software "Cura" commonly used for 3D printers. This is a very easy-to-use software (the key point is that it is free)! Cura can convert most 3D files into a format that can be read by Kingsssel 182, and can easily adjust the print size! In addition, the "bridging" and filling density that must be done to print suspended objects can also be processed through Cura. Finally, the 3D printer can be configured separately Import the configuration file into the 3D file (the configuration file is provided by the original manufacturer).
From the overall process point of view, printing 3D files (such as Hatsune dolls) downloaded from the Internet is not as difficult as we imagined. We only need to follow the official operating procedures to print the files. Convert the file and start printing directly!
There is an SD card slot on the side of the Kingssel 182 display screen, which can directly read the files stored in it and print them. Therefore, even if you want to print a certain model temporarily, you only need to boot it directly and Just select from the SD card, and you don't need to turn on the computer every time you print (you don't need to turn on the computer during printing), which is especially convenient for stores that often need to print the same model (such as Cosplay prop customization). In addition, the memory capacity of SD cards is very large nowadays, so it is no problem to store a large number of models in one card!
Note: Kingssel 182 supports folder management of files, so you don’t have to worry about putting too many files and the list is too long and it’s difficult to choose.
3C No need to worry about Kingssel if you are a hard-working person. 182 would be too difficult to operate! Because there is only one pushable knob on the front of the 182, and the menu design is very simple (just scroll up and down), there is no need to learn the operation process. Basically, as long as you can understand a little English. It’s done! In addition, operations such as nozzle preheating and cooling are fully automatic, so you don’t need to go through too much learning before you can operate them freely. In this way, designers can also handle model printing by themselves, without having to trouble engineers. !
Having said that, it’s time to start printing! Haoyun here recommends applying a thin layer of "lipstick glue" on the base before printing, so that when you want to pull the model out of the base after printing, you can pick it up more easily. You don't have to worry about pulling out the model too hard. And dismantle the model. In addition, since the base is made of glass plate, you don’t have to worry about the lipstick glue being difficult to clean. As long as you wipe it with a wet rag after printing, the base can be easily wiped clean.
However, It should be noted here that 3D printing does not print out paper like a traditional printer. Instead, it must be stacked layer by layer to print out the model we input. Therefore, printing usually takes more than an hour (depending on the printing volume and density settings), so it cannot be printed immediately upon startup! The time-lapse video below is the actual process of printing Iron Man's chest. The whole printing process took about an hour, but you can quickly watch the process through time-lapse ~ For those who have never seen how a 3D printer works I suggest you watch the video, it’s very interesting~

Having said that, I have to Let’s mention the printing quality of Kingssel 182!
Most people’s impression of the printing quality of 3D printers is as shown in the picture above: it looks like layers and circles, and it doesn’t feel delicate at all. But that’s not actually the case! Of course, in addition to the printer grade affecting the print quality, you can also set the quality before printing, just like you can set "Photo Quality", "Document Quality" with a regular printer. "Quality" is the same. So how good is the printing quality of Kingsel 182? Please look at the picture below:
?(Click on the picture above to go to the flickr album of the author of this article, and the photo can be enlarged)
The two 101 small ones in the picture above The model is printed with a layer height of 0.1MM and a speed of 85% with fine printing quality. I tried very hard to capture any detailed textures or printing marks on it... But I'm sorry, even with the high-resolution D800E + high-resolution Leica lens, plus the blessing of studio lights, I still can't The texture on these two 101s cannot be photographed, which shows that the precision of this Kingssel 182 3D printer is indeed worthy of appreciation.
Please don’t imagine that the printed items will be painted! As can be seen from the previous installation process, the 3D printer must select the color of the material at the beginning, and the printed product is the "monochrome model" of the material.
However, PLA is an easy-to-paint material. As long as you have experience in coloring, you can easily make the cute cat Luo painted by Miss Kuaishou as shown above ~ In addition, we will also give away five 3D printed ones. Bai*** Mi, everyone can paint it themselves! For details, please see the event instructions on the Addiction Technology fan page~
