How to shoot multiple exposures?

What is multiple exposure?

Multiple exposure is a special shooting technique. The principle is that a film is exposed with two or more different focal lengths, so that each image is superimposed together, showing an effect that ordinary photos can't show. Multiple exposure technology is generally used to take two or more photos. It can be said that the multiple exposure function is the product of the film camera era. In traditional film SLR cameras, we press the shutter once, take a picture, press the shutter again and start taking the next picture. The multiple exposure function allows us to stay in the original position after shooting, thus exposing the re-shot scene to the negative in the same area, making an object appear in the picture many times, and we can shoot things out of nothing like magic. The following Beijing Jinghai Photography School will explain the shooting method of multiple exposures.

Methods/steps

Multiple exposure technology:

A simple multiple exposure shooting method:

In the process of taking pictures, the camera and the object are kept still, and multiple exposures to the object at different times or under different lighting conditions can make the layering of the object more prominent. This is one of the most basic multiple exposure shooting methods, which is more suitable for shooting at night.

Second, multiple exposure superposition method

We can also use the superposition method of multiple exposures to shoot. When shooting, the position of the camera can be fixed or moved. Before shooting, we should reserve positions in some areas of the picture in advance, make multiple exposures in the reserved areas, and then synthesize them together.

Thirdly, multiple exposures by occlusion method.

The so-called blocking multiple exposure method is to block half of the lens to shoot the subject once, and then block the other half of the lens to shoot the subject in different positions again, so that the subject can be exposed on a negative at the same time.

four

Fourth, change the focal length of multiple exposures.

We can shoot still life or flowers by changing the focal length. We can shoot twice by changing the focal length, once with real focus and once with virtual focus. When shooting in real focus, the exposure can be increased, but when shooting in virtual focus, the exposure can be reduced.
