2. How to get a marriage certificate

(1) Both men and women go to the medical and health institutions designated by the marriage registration administration organ (which is the functional organ of the county civil affairs bureau) where one party's household registration is located, and obtain the certificate of premarital health examination.

The "Regulations" stipulate that premarital health examination system should be implemented where conditions permit. Therefore, at present, China only implements the premarital health examination system in most large and medium-sized cities and a few towns and villages. Most of the medical and health institutions that receive premarital health examination in China are designated as maternal and child health centers in the same administrative region, but there are exceptions. Therefore, it is best for both men and women to consult the marriage registration office in the place where they are registered in person or by telephone before the examination.
