Chinese and Western Medicine Work Together to Create Postpartum Healthy Body Curve
Most women gain more than 65,438+05 kilograms during pregnancy, but they are too busy breastfeeding and taking care of their babies after delivery to neglect weight management. Only after the golden period of postpartum weight loss did they realize that they were getting farther and farther away from a cabinet of beautiful clothes ... In this issue, Mommy Baby invited professional obstetricians and Chinese medicine practitioners to clarify the important concepts necessary to build a healthy body. Postpartum weight loss is not only for beauty, but also for accompanying your dear family with a healthy body.
Check! Do I have the problem of "postpartum obesity"? Although elders often say that one person eats two supplements, how much weight gain is appropriate during pregnancy? And at what speed should I gradually lose weight after childbirth? There is actually a definition of postpartum obesity, and I'll take you to understand it now.
Weight gain during pregnancy is based on body mass index.
A few years ago, pregnant mothers suggested that the weight gain during pregnancy should be the same, regardless of height, height and obesity. But now, they take the pre-pregnancy "body mass index (BMI value)" as an examination, and combine the conditions of height, weight and singleton twins to make an objective weight gain plan. Li, director of the obstetrics and gynecology department of the hospital, said that if women are thin before pregnancy, the reasonable weight gain will be more than the average person, so that mothers can have more fat and energy for their babies to grow up. However, if you are already fat, you should carefully control your weight throughout pregnancy. If the weight gain far exceeds the recommended value, in addition to the increased probability of gestational diabetes, the fetus will also bear higher production risks, which will have a great impact on the health of mommy and fetus.
The pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) suggests that the weight gain 1.2kg/ week is less than 1.9. 8 1.2. 5 to 1.9. 8 to 26.0 1.5 to1. 8+0 1.5 0.3 greater than 29.0 at least 7.0 others: total weight of twins 15.9 to 20.4 0.7 total weight of triplets 22.7 * body mass index = weight (kg)/ height 2(m2) (refer to:
102 health handbook for pregnant women) lose 4 ~ 5 kilograms immediately after delivery.
Single-term newborn, the average weight is about 3.3 ~ 3.4 kg. After deducting 700 c c amniotic fluid (about 0.7 kg) and 0.6 kg placenta, you can usually lose 4 ~ 5 kg immediately after delivery. As for the mother who is pregnant with twins, she can lose 8 ~ 9 kg immediately after delivery (the actual weight lost will still vary according to her physical condition). Director Li reminded that due to the limited uterine space, premature delivery of twin pregnancy is more common than singleton pregnancy. Twins are born at 35-37 weeks on average, and most of them weigh 2.2-2.7 kilograms.
Body mass index and body fat rate define "postpartum obesity"
Director Li explained that postpartum obesity is often defined as "the weight after 6 weeks of delivery is 65,438+00% higher than that before pregnancy"-suppose a woman weighing 50 kg before pregnancy, if her weight increases to 65 kg during pregnancy, she must drop below 55 kg after 6 weeks of delivery, otherwise it is defined as postpartum obesity. In addition, if the body mass index value is used, it belongs to the normal range between 18 ~ 23, and beyond this value, it shows that the weight is biased. Furthermore, the ideal body fat rate of women before the age of 30 should be less than 24%, and over the age of 30 should be less than 27%. If the body fat rate exceeds 30%, it can also be defined as postpartum obesity.
Peng, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner in Wen Ya Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Clinic, said that women who like to wear tight clothes before pregnancy usually feel the difference in body shape more obviously after delivery. Although the body mass index is often used to define whether they are obese or not, the body mass index is only the data obtained by dividing the weight by the square of the height, and it is impossible to clearly know the distribution of body fat in various parts. Therefore, it is suggested to use body mass index and body fat rate to examine body shape at the same time, and it is not necessary to stick to weight figures blindly.
The golden period of slimming within 6 months after delivery
As for the recovery of postpartum body shape, is there an ideal golden period? In this regard, the two doctors agreed that 3 to 6 months after delivery is the best golden period for women to lose weight (3 months for women who don't breastfeed and 6 months for women who breastfeed).
Babies generally start to add non-staple food 6 months after delivery. Dr. Peng reminded that the status of breast milk is no longer so comprehensive at this time. If the mother has not lost weight, it is necessary to consider whether there is overeating and no exercise. The metabolic rate will gradually return to the pre-pregnancy level six months after delivery, making it difficult to lose weight. In addition, if you suffer from pregnancy diseases such as gestational diabetes, you may gain more than 20 kilograms during pregnancy. It is also recommended to lose the original weight within six months after delivery. After all, overweight hides the high incidence of cardiovascular diseases and has a great impact on health.
"Foreign studies have pointed out that if women fail to regain their original weight within six months after delivery, there will be a high proportion of obesity in the future. Therefore, as China people often say, "strike while the iron is hot", mothers must aim at losing weight within six months after delivery with good metabolic rate and return to their ideal healthy figure as soon as possible. Director Li said. Even those who have obesity problems in the past are at higher risk of diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. So they might as well lose weight seriously after childbirth.
How long can you lose weight after caesarean section? Generally speaking, the natural delivery is about two weeks after delivery, and the wound has recovered well. Rest 1 month or so (sit for a month) and you can start to lose weight. As for caesarean section, the recovery time of abdominal wound is relatively long, and you can start to lose weight after postpartum rest 1.5 ~ 2 months.
Dr. Peng also mentioned that if mommy's weight is properly controlled during pregnancy, she is also breast-fed after delivery and pays attention to balanced nutrition, combined with moderate exercise (housework is also light physical labor), in fact, it is not impossible to restore her pre-pregnancy weight within 1 ~ 2 months after delivery!
In fact, many women regard "weight" as the only indicator of fatness and thinness, and always haggle over numbers. The weight of fat is relatively light, and it is likely that the weight will return to the original figure, but it still can't put on the previous clothes, and even put the cart before the horse to the place where it should not be thin. Therefore, in addition to paying attention to weight changes, we should also measure body fat and measure it with a tape measure to see the effect of body shape changes.
Go! Create a healthy body curve
I don't know if you or your relatives and friends have the same experience after giving birth-although you regained your pre-pregnancy weight, you can't put on your previous tight jeans. This is because after giving birth to a baby, the distribution of fat has changed, especially in thighs and waist, abdomen and buttocks, and because fat is not easy to reduce, you can't wear all clothes before pregnancy. Director Li said that the postpartum weight loss plan can also adopt the moderate weight loss range of "0.5 kg per week" recommended by the National Health Bureau, which is more in line with normal physiological operation, and on the one hand, it is necessary to produce nutritious milk for the baby to drink during lactation, and it is not possible to adopt excessive dieting and slimming methods, otherwise it will not only affect yourself, but also hurt the baby's growth and development.
Is it really harmful to lose weight while breastfeeding? Some people think it is harmful to lose weight while breastfeeding. We also asked two doctors about this statement. Dr. Peng carefully reminded that if the diet method stays on a diet and is not supplemented by moderate exercise to promote metabolism, it will inevitably cause harm to mommy who must provide milk after childbirth. The purpose of losing weight is to adjust the body to the best condition, let the viscera return to normal operation, and the body will naturally become healthy and beautiful.
Director Li said that as long as you don't take extreme weight loss measures such as excessive exercise, taking medicine and fasting, in fact, reasonable weight loss will not harm your health. Moreover, breastfeeding itself is a good way to lose weight. Nutrients and fats supplemented by mothers will become nutrients for the baby's growth through breast milk. When the baby needs it, the mother will let him drink it generously, so you will naturally lose weight quickly.
The important principle of postpartum slimming is not difficult. As long as you fully master the important principle of weight loss, everyone can lose weight easily and be healthy and beautiful!
Breastfeeding consumes calories.
According to statistics, breast-feeding can increase the calorie consumption by 400 ~ 1000 calories per day, but Director Li reminded that breast-feeding does not necessarily mean losing weight. The key is that breastfeeding consumes calories and makes you feel hungry more easily. But if you drink greasy stew or eat high-fat and high-sugar food, you are more likely to feel hungry.
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that postpartum breastfeeding consumes a lot of extra calories every day. Generally speaking, breast milk can consume 0.67 calories per1c.c. If mommy's lactation is getting better and better, she can even consume more than 500 calories a day (the most important thing is the amount of lactation).
Postpartum breastfeeding not only contributes to physical recovery, but also promotes uterine contraction and involution. In addition, research shows that breastfeeding can reduce the incidence of breast cancer and certain types of ovarian cancer, which has countless benefits for both mothers and babies. Dr. Peng also took his own experience as an example. At first, she continued breastfeeding for two years, and she lost weight very quickly within six months after delivery. But later, as the baby began to eat non-staple food, the demand for breast milk decreased, and the speed of losing weight slowed down.
Balanced diet pays attention to nutrition.
Besides exercise, diet control is also very important. The so-called diet control is not to limit the food intake blindly, but to pay more attention to whether the nutrition is balanced, choose good ingredients, supplement high-quality protein, replace the viscera and pig feet (pig feet are oily meat) commonly used for stewing with fish or lean meat, and put an end to fattening supper, snacks and desserts. If you are really hungry, you can choose healthy fruits, vegetables and milk as snacks.
In addition, China people like to drink stew for health after delivery, reminding everyone to follow the principle of cooking with less salt and avoiding heavy taste. Excessive sodium intake will lead to water retention in the body, so that the problem of edema can not be effectively improved, and stew often eats more meat. If the intake of water and fiber is insufficient, constipation is easy to occur.
We all know that drinking more water can promote the body's metabolism, but the elder's idea is not to touch water after childbirth. Dr. Peng Wenya suggested that if pregnant women are worried about drinking water, they might as well cook some Huangqi jujube tea, or drink more fish soup, sparerib soup and fungus soup. After all, water is the main raw material for making breast milk, and proper water supplement is helpful for making milk. Chinese herbal medicines such as Lycium barbarum, Radix Astragali, Fructus Jujubae, medulla tetrapanacis, Glycyrrhrizae Radix, Alismatis Rhizoma, Semen Vaccariae, etc. all have the effects of invigorating qi and blood or promoting milk secretion, which is very suitable for women to take after delivery. As for most people who think that ginseng is a tonic, in fact, ginseng has the function of withdrawing milk, and it is not recommended for mothers to eat it.
Usually, you can also eat more fruits and vegetables to supplement vitamins C and B, so that mommy will not feel tired easily. If you are afraid of obesity, you can reduce your starch intake from pregnancy to postpartum. For example, starchy foods such as bread and rice cakes can easily lead to obesity, which can be eaten occasionally but should not be overdone.
Fresh fish soup contains high-quality protein and gum. Many women who have tried it think it is helpful for wound healing, and many people think it has the function of lactation. As long as mommy is not allergic to fish, try low-salt ginger fish soup.
