What is the definition of image matching in photogrammetry?

Image matching is essentially to identify homonyms between two (or more) images.

Image correlation is to use cross-correlation function to evaluate the similarity of two images to determine the same name points.

The relationship between image matching and image association is to match images by using related technologies, and finally determine the same name points.

Common image matching algorithms based on image gray level include correlation function method, covariance function method, correlation coefficient method, sum of squares of differences, sum of absolute values of differences, least square method and so on. Object-based image matching algorithms include vertical trajectory method (VLL), image matching based on image features, multi-level pyramid image matching and so on.
