How to shoot well in winter photography, what are the details and skills?

The winter weather makes the winter photography style more interesting. Therefore, Bian Xiao introduced the advice of winter photography to you and wrote it down briefly. How to take pictures in winter to get good shooting results and reduce the damage to photographic equipment?

1. Wear warm clothes

No matter how beautiful photos you need to take, you should put this rule in the first place. When shooting, you need to wait for the best shooting opportunity. Therefore, warm sports jackets, sweaters, winter shoes and wool socks are absolutely necessary equipment.

Step 2 protect your hands

It's best to wear thin wool gloves when shooting in winter, so that you can easily press the button when shooting. In extreme cases, if the weather is too cold, you need to wear thick warm gloves, but you don't have to take them off all the way, take a few frames quickly and put them on again. If you use a tripod, please don't hold the metal part of it without gloves, which will easily frostbite your hands.

3. Keep the battery warm

In lithium batteries, the charge will decrease at low temperature. Therefore, we keep spare batteries in our pockets.

4. Don't heat the camera.

Unlike batteries, cameras must always be at ambient temperature. If the camera is placed in a hot place for a period of time, please keep it in the camera bag. Otherwise, the temperature will suddenly change (including the inside of the shell) and the water will condense. For electronic products, this can be fatal.

Please don't breathe into the camera.

The heat emitted in winter can easily freeze on the lens. In practice, when you put the viewfinder on your eyes, you should pay attention to holding your breath. Otherwise, the exhaled heat will blur the lens, resulting in distortion of the photo.

6. After returning to China ...

Usually, when entering a warm room, please don't rush to take the camera out of the packaging bag and let the temperature gradually adapt to the indoor temperature. This may take several hours, please be patient! In addition, I suggest you put a bag or other desiccant in the photo bag, which is often used to package electronic products and shoes now.

7. Think about camera settings

It is not easy to change the settings in cold weather. Therefore, it needs to be set in advance so as to make as few changes as possible when shooting. For example, the automatic ISO- is setting in OM-D is very useful. As usual, mode A is-aperture priority. Be sure to include a "real-time" histogram (and/or overexposure indication). When taking photos in winter, you need to choose exposure compensation carefully. Otherwise, all the snow will turn gray (it can still be corrected, especially when shooting RAW).
