Do the four "rivers" of Jiangnan, Jiangbei, Jiangdong and Jiangxi refer to the same river? If not, what do they mean?

1. Geographically, "Jiangnan" refers to the south of the Yangtze River and "Jiangbei" refers to the north of the Yangtze River.

2. The reach of the Yangtze River from Wuhu, Anhui Province to Nanjing, Jiangsu Province is basically north-south. Since the Sui and Tang Dynasties, it is customary to call the south bank of the Yangtze River below this section "Jiangdong". The ancients were geographically left to the east and right to the west, so Jiangdong was also called Jiangzuo.

3. The rivers in "Jiangxi" also refer to the Yangtze River, the ancient Jiangxi area (most of Jiangxi, southeastern Hubei).
