How harmful is X-ray?

An ordinary X-ray examination is harmless to people, so don't worry too much.

X-ray photography is to put the examinee between the X-ray tube and the influence receiver, and obtain the instantaneous morphological information of the inspected part in the direction of photography through exposure.

The advantages of X-ray photography are: clear image, storable image, less X-ray exposure to the operator, good X-ray protection and wide application.

The disadvantage is that because X-ray photography obtains instantaneous still images, it is impossible to observe organ changes from multiple angles and dynamically, to accurately locate lesions, and to obtain results immediately. Clinically applied to areas with certain natural contrast.

X-ray radiation comes from external or internal exposure to the human body. Ionizing radiation can be divided into internal irradiation and external irradiation. Medical irradiation includes internal irradiation and external irradiation. The basic methods of external irradiation are time protection, distance protection and shielding protection.

(1) Time protection means to shorten the exposure time of personnel as much as possible without affecting the quality of work, because the exposure dose is proportional to the time;

② Distance protection refers to extending the distance between the X-ray tube and the inspected personnel as far as possible without affecting the quality of work;

(3) Shielding protection refers to placing shielding materials that can effectively absorb radiation between radioactive sources and irradiated personnel to attenuate or eliminate the harm of radiation to human body. At present, most hospitals are shielding materials made of lead.
