Does the old tungsten light bulb hurt your eyes?

Does the old tungsten lamp light bulb hurt your eyes, tungsten lamp? This is a tungsten filament incandescent lamp. Tungsten lamp can produce continuous spectrum, which is used in the visible spectrum region of 400 ~ 780 nm. Old-fashioned tungsten lamp is rarely used. In the past few decades, people only had tungsten lamp, but now there are not so many "glasses". As long as the brightness is enough, there is no harm to the eyes. The so-called "damage", as long as it is because tungsten lamps consume a lot of electricity and 25W is not very bright, some people are unwilling to use large wattage, and the light is dim, which is not good for their eyes.

Tungsten wire is a kind of thin wire forged and drawn by tungsten rod.

Tungsten wire is mainly used for incandescent lamps, tungsten halogen lamps and other electric light sources. Tungsten wires used as various illuminants in light bulbs need to be doped with a small amount of oxides of potassium, silicon and aluminum. This kind of tungsten wire is called DopedTungstenWire, also known as 2 18 tungsten wire or non-sag tungsten wire.

Tungsten wire is generally drawn by various drawing dies. It is mainly used to manufacture fine wires and high-speed cutting alloy steel, and also used in optical instruments and chemical instruments.

The resistivity of tungsten wire is 5,3 *10-8. Tungsten has high melting point, high resistivity, good strength and low vapor pressure, and is the best material for making incandescent filament among all pure metals. But tungsten is hard and brittle, so it is difficult to machine. When the current is heated to a certain temperature through the tungsten wire, the resistance of the tungsten wire will also increase to a certain value (in general, the resistance of the wire will increase with the increase of temperature). 1909, Coolidge invented the tungsten wire processing technology, which played a decisive role in the production and popularization of incandescent light bulbs, and its basic principle has been used to this day.

1. The glass shell of halogen lamp is filled with some halogen gas (usually iodine or bromine). When the filament is heated, tungsten atoms evaporate and move towards the glass tube wall. When it approaches the glass tube wall, the tungsten vapor cools to about 800℃ and combines with halogen atoms to form tungsten halide (tungsten iodide or tungsten bromide). Tungsten halide continues to move to the center of the glass tube and returns to the oxidized filament. Because tungsten halide is a very unstable compound, it will decompose into halogen vapor and tungsten again after heating, so that tungsten will be deposited on the filament to make up for the evaporated part. Through this recycling process, the service life of filament is greatly prolonged, almost four times that of tungsten filament bulb.

2. Halogen lamps have higher brightness, higher color temperature and higher luminous efficiency because the filament can work at a higher temperature.

3. Halogen bulbs can work at a higher temperature than ordinary tungsten filament bulbs, with higher brightness and efficiency. However, ordinary glass may soften at this temperature, so halogen bulbs need timely glass with higher melting point. Halogen bulbs usually need an extra ultraviolet filter because the timely glass can't block ultraviolet rays.

4. Ordinary tungsten filament bulbs have many advantages, such as simplicity, low cost, easy adjustment and control of brightness, and good color rendering (Ra= 100). However, it also has many fatal shortcomings, such as short service life and low luminous efficiency. Generally, only 6% can be converted into light energy, and the rest is lost in the form of heat energy, with a low color temperature (2700-3650). Halogen bulbs have greatly improved these shortcomings while retaining the above advantages.

Ordinary tungsten filament bulbs belong to recyclable garbage. So not all used light bulbs are harmful waste. Because tungsten filament has recycling value, tungsten is a kind of strategic metals. Mercury vapor in energy-saving lamps and fluorescent lamps is not added in the manufacturing process of tungsten filament bulbs, so it is harmless in itself. Don't worry about powder when the tungsten filament bulb is broken. It is only phosphorus added in the manufacturing process to consume oxygen in the bulb and prolong the service life of the tungsten filament.

Why use tungsten wire for light bulbs?

Because of the extremely high melting point of tungsten, the temperature of filament is as high as more than 2000 degrees Celsius, and the stability of tungsten is good. Only tungsten has a melting point as high as more than 3400 degrees Celsius. Tungsten is the metal with the highest melting point, so tungsten wire is used in the bulb.

Disadvantages of tungsten filament bulb

1, the tungsten filament bulb will make the lamp wall black, because the tungsten filament will produce tungsten filament gas when heated in use, and it will condense on the lamp wall when the temperature drops, leading to shutdown.

2. Tungsten wire will become thinner and thinner after being used for a period of time. Tungsten wire is too thin and easy to burn out. The greater the power of the tungsten filament bulb, the shorter the thinning time of the tungsten filament.

3. The color of the tungsten filament bulb is very single, with only one color and no discoloration. Nowadays, people require lamps not only to have stable performance, but also to have rich color changes in order to create a light and shadow effect. Tungsten filament bulbs are weak in this respect.
