The cast and crew of Whirlwind Baicao
●Xu Jiao was originally scheduled to play the heroine Qi Baicao during the casting process, but Xu Jiao had no choice but to resign due to a benign tumor that required surgery.
●Wu Lei, who plays Hu Yifeng, and Jiang Yiyi, who plays Jin Minzhu, are partners again after "The Legend of the Condor Heroes".
●The actors of the younger generation of contestants in the play are basically young actors, including Hu Bingqing's version of Baicao, Yang Yang's version of Ruobai, Chen Xiang's version of Ting Hao, Zhao Yuanyuan's version of Fang Tingyi, and Bai Jingting version of Chu Yuan, and Wu Lei’s version of Yifeng.
●Except for Yang Yang, Zhao Yuanyuan and Yu Haoyang who have some dance foundation, Hu Bingqing, Chen Xiang, Wu Lei, Tan Songyun and other actors had almost zero kung fu experience before joining the group.
●This work is the first youth idol drama in which Yang Yang truly stars as the male lead.
●Tan Songyun, who plays Xiaoying, celebrated her birthday on June 1, 2015 on the filming crew. She was responsible for the comedy scenes and was accompanied by Yang Yang, Wu Lei and Hu Bingqing, and the crew gave her a surprise.
●During the filming process, some of the actors' fighting scenes required hanging wires to perform, and they were even injured due to difficult kicking movements.
●He Jie, who sang the theme song for the drama this time, spoke out for the first time after being pregnant with her second child.
Behind-the-scenes production and creative background
"Tornado Girl" is adapted from the novel "Tornado Herbs" of the same name, and the original author Ming Xiaoxi served as the script coordinator for the first time in the drama. Director Cheng Zhichao said that he hopes to make this drama a Chinese version of "Volleyball Players."
The filming process
Because this work is almost entirely based on competition and runs through a large number of action shots, in order to ensure authenticity, all actors need to undergo taekwondo training, and the producer specially hired Taekwondo professionals teach techniques and train the actors intensively.
In order to fully present the actual training scene of "Yuanwu Dao", the film crew built a professional training hall in the Mango Studio. The facilities are complete: foot targets, sandbags, wooden stakes, and fitness equipment. The professional floor mats used to protect the actors during filming were very thick and covered the entire floor. The floor mats and protective gear were of the same brand as the professional teams preparing for the Olympics.
