What was the behind-the-scenes production of Xiuchundao 2 like?

Preliminary Creation After the release of the movie "Xiuchundao" in 2014, screenwriter Lu Yang began to write the script of "Xiuchundao II: Shura Battlefield". Nearly a year was set aside for preparation before the filming of the film started. The photography, art and styling directors all stopped their work to prepare together with the main creative team. After Lu Yang finished writing the script, he showed it to the producer Ning Hao. If Ning was not satisfied, he would ask for a rewrite, and he wrote four versions.

The filming process: On April 3, 2016, the film held a launch ceremony in the ancient city of Taierzhuang, Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province, and began shooting. The filming took place in the ancient city of Taierzhuang for half a month, and then moved to Hengdian Film and Television City. On July 2, 2016, the movie "Xiu Chun Dao II: Shura Battlefield" was completed. The director said that post-production will take about 10 months. On July 23, 2016, at the Sino-US Film Creative Forum held in Beijing, the screenwriter Chen Shu stated that "Xiu Chun Dao II: Shura Battlefield" has entered the post-production stage.

The costumes and props used by the main characters in "Xiu Chun Dao II: Shura Battlefield" are twice as many as those in the previous film ("Xiu Chun Dao"), and even the weapons used by the group performances are individually designed. Many of the details of the costumes and weapons in the film were handmade. The team not only researched a large number of historical documents to restore the "weapon arsenal" of the late Ming Dynasty, but many cool weapons appeared on the big screen for the first time.
