Wu Wang (1844 ——1900)

A famous chivalrous man in Shi Jing Wulin. Wang Zhengyi, whose real name is Zi Bin, is originally from Cangzhou, Hebei Province, a Hui nationality. Because he worshipped Li Fenggang as a teacher, he ranked fifth and was called "Little Wuzi". Because of his skillful knife technique and noble morality, everyone respectfully called him "Wang Wu with a big knife". Wang Zhengyi was a knight-errant all her life. He supported reform, saved the nation from extinction and became a hero praised by a generation. Ranked among the top ten masters in the late Qing Dynasty, he was widely circulated among the people, and was as famous as Yanzi Lisan, Huo Yuanjia, Huang Feihong and other famous martial artists.

Wang Wu was born in poverty, and his father died at the age of three. He had to live with his mother alone. He began to do all kinds of chores at an early age, and later became a teacher, laying a solid foundation in martial arts.

At that time, the most famous martial artist in Cangzhou was Li Fenggang, a double-edged sword. In order to practice higher martial arts, Wang Wu wanted to worship him as a teacher, but he was turned away many times. He knelt in front of Li's door to show his sincerity. Li Fenggang was moved by his spirit and accepted him as an apprentice. Wang Wu didn't live up to Master's expectations. After several years, his kung fu was no longer under Master's command. In order to cultivate him into a more comprehensive talent, Li recommended him to his younger brother and walked the rivers and lakes together. After several years of training, Wang Wu said goodbye to his master. Ten years later, I went to Tianjin first, then to Beijing, and was introduced as an escort in an escort agency.

In the third year of Guangxu, Wang Wu set up Shunyuan Escort Agency in Banbi Street (Chongwen District) (later moved to Guang 'an Street) with his savings and the help of friends. Shunyuan Escort Agency has a wide range of activities, from Shanhaiguan in the north to Qingjiangpu in Huai 'an City, Jiangsu Province in the south. His medical practice is standardized, his fees are reasonable, his morality is noble, his benevolence and righteousness are awe-inspiring, his business is very prosperous, and he became famous in a short time.

Wang Wu is not only respected professionally, but also widely praised for his patriotic behavior. After the failure of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, the imperial envoy An went to the imperial court to discuss the disadvantages of making peace and demanded that those who made mistakes in the country be severely punished, but they were reprimanded by the Qing court and dismissed from their posts to guard the border. Out of indignation, Wang Wu resolutely shouldered the heavy responsibility of escorting Wei Jun. After returning to Beijing, Wang Wu founded Tang Xue Street in Xiangchang, which was called "Father Martial Arts School" in history. What is more celebrated and widely circulated is the communication between Wu Wang and Tan Sitong. Wang Wu was chivalrous, commensurate with Tan Sitong's brothers, and taught Tan Wuyi swordsmanship, from which they established a profound friendship.

1898, the Reform Movement of 1898 reached its climax, and Tan Sitong was called to Beijing as a fourth-class military aircraft to participate in the preliminary reform. During this period, Wang Wu undertook Tan Sitong's food, clothing, housing, transportation and security work. After the failure of the Reform Movement of 1898, Tan Sitong was willing to be arrested in order to express his determination to reform and awaken the people. Wang Wu was worried when he learned about it. He inquired in many ways, bribed prison officials, made extensive contacts with Wulin people, and attempted to save Tan, but Tan Sitong resolutely refused. On September 27th, Tan Sitong and other "Six Gentlemen of the Reform Movement of 1898" were resolutely beheaded in the food market outside Xuanwu Gate, and Wang Wu was heartbroken when he learned that. In order to inherit Tan Sitong's legacy and revenge, Wang Wu organized many assassinations, but all failed, which strengthened Wang Wu's determination to resist the Qing court.

1900, the boxer anti-imperialist patriotic movement rose in the north. Wang Wu took an active part in fighting alongside the Boxer Rebellion, killing foreigners and beating churches. 654381October 25th, the Qing army surrounded Shunyuan Escort Agency. In the end, because of being outnumbered, Eight-Nation Alliance was shot at the front door at the age of 56.

After broadsword Wang Wu was killed, his head hung on the gate, and his family could not hold a funeral for Wang Wu. When Huo Yuanjia heard about it, he came alone, took off at night and buried Wang Wu's head. That night, Huo Yuanjia lived in a house on the west side of South Room of Wang Wu's former residence.

At that time, Wang Wu was very prestigious in Beijing. They presented two plaques, "Moral Persuasion" and "Yi Shi", which were hung on the east and west sides of the door. Later, when people in the courtyard built houses, the plaque was taken down as a bed board. The front door used to be a clearing, and the apricot banner of Yuanshun Escort Agency was flying high. Now it has been occupied by public toilets. It is said that Wang Wu's 100-Jin-long "Qinglong Crescent Moon Blade" has been preserved until 1958, and it entered the steelmaking furnace during the Great Leap Forward.

The story of broadsword Wang Wu was included in Shaw's film Wang Wu, TV series Wang Wu and Li Ao's novel Fayuan Temple.
