Sichuan Conservatory of Music specializes in art history, art management, music performance, musicology, composition and composition technology theory, dance science, dance performance, dance choreography, drama, film and television literature, performance, radio and television choreography, broadcasting and hosting, drama, film and television art design, recording arts, animation, film and television photography and production, painting, sculpture, photography, visual communication design, environmental design and industrial design.

Sichuan Conservatory of Music, called "Chuanyin" for short, is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It is a provincial full-time undergraduate college with "art" as its main feature. It is one of the national 1 1 independent professional conservatories of music, a master's degree awarding unit, the first batch of MFA education pilot units in China, and a national cultural quality education base for college students.

The predecessor of Sichuan Conservatory of Music is Sichuan Drama Education Experimental School founded in 1939, and it has gone through the development periods of Sichuan Music Experimental School, Sichuan Technical College, Sichuan Art College, Chengdu Art College and Southwest Conservatory of Music.

From 65438 to 0959, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded and renamed Sichuan Conservatory of Music, becoming one of the six professional conservatories with undergraduate education in China at that time. 1986, approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, the school was granted the right to grant master's degrees.

In July 2022, the school official website showed that Sichuan Conservatory of Music has two campuses, Wuhou Campus (Headquarters) and Xindu Campus, covering an area of 1.200 mu, with 26 teaching departments and 10 research institutions.
