Watercolor + Colored Lead丨How to create a still life with the texture of oil painting through the combination of watercolor and colored lead

Expected results: Understand watercolor techniques and be able to skillfully combine them with colored pencils to create still lifes with the texture of oil paintings.

Practice results: I have a preliminary understanding of watercolor techniques, but I encountered problems such as paper bulging and uneven coloring. These need to be solved one by one in subsequent exercises. The still life created has the texture of an oil painting, but is not delicate enough.

Summary:

This is my first painting It was quite exciting to try painting using watercolor + colored pencil techniques for the first time. Although I did test colors and practice before painting. As a result, the first pass turned over as expected. The entire paper was bulging and could not be painted due to the incorrect color laying method. I consulted classmate Maizi and teacher Pan in time. The second time I used a more conservative method of spreading color in a small area with thick paint. Although it was still slightly bulging, it did not affect the overall operation. Although I have not solved the problem of evenly coloring large color blocks, and the color is still quite different from the overall background color, this exercise can be regarded as a good start for exploring and learning watercolor.

Next, I will further practice and master the method of laying large color blocks with watercolor, combined with colored pencils, to create a more delicate painting texture.
