Is it hot in Africa or China in summer?

Speculation. Don't we need news in our lives?

Every day, people faint, and it becomes news when it reaches my little brother in Africa, because everyone's preconceived impression is that Africa is very hot, but the real situation is not like that.

The lowest point of Danakil depression is -250 meters above sea level, 90 meters above sea level, and the temperature is above 50 degrees Celsius. The Afar depression with rich colors and extreme environment is as mysterious as an alien. Photography: Wu Wang

Most parts of Africa are very warm, especially in the western coastal and plateau areas. In some places, it is no exaggeration to say that the seasons are like spring. There are some hot places, concentrated in the Sahara desert in North Africa and the desert in the southwest, and the eastern coast of the Indian Ocean is also very hot. Over the years, when I traveled in the Rift Valley, I often dealt with this high temperature. To tell the truth, it's not terrible at all, especially since I have lived in Nanjing for many years. Compared with our four stoves, the heat is nothing to be afraid of. Heat is heat, and heat is different. As far as the Rift Valley in East Africa is concerned, it is solar heat, and it is dry and waterless wind heat. I have visited the Danakil depression many times, which is called the gateway to the region. The temperature in Danakil depression is as high as 50 degrees Celsius during the day, but it is still breezy at night. What is terrible is the kind of hot air that can dry people. Even if you hide in the shade, the wind can take away the water from you.

There is no fresh water to drink in Danakil depression, and the only liquid-salt and sulfur solution, with the increase of temperature, eventually produces crystals of salt and sulfur.

Most nights in East Africa, I have to get into the tent. There is no doubt that I need to use a sleeping bag in the rainy season. You may not believe it. The worst time I was frozen in my life was when I was filming a local religious festival in Gondel. That morning, my partner and I were too cold to speak, because each of us only wore a pair of shorts. Ouch! The memory of that experience is especially new!
