The Ferry Man is adapted from Zhang Jiajia's novel Passing Through Your World. The original text is only a few thousand words. Zhang Jiajia was born a novelist. Therefore, The Ferry Man is actually a work co-produced by Wong Kar-wai and Zhang Jiajia, but the evaluation is still very low. Is it because The Ferry Man is the king of sunglasses and the shooting speed is too fast?
Some viewers think that the story of the film is chaotic, and the second half is even more incomprehensible.

After that, Xia Yongkang followed Wong Kar-wai and participated in the shooting and design of In the Mood for Love and 2046.
Xia Yonghang: I dare not argue with him. He is the boss and he is my teacher, so I mostly listen to him. But what he wanted (photos), he never gave me the answer. I said, what do you think of this? He returned it to me after reading it, and then walked away. I said, what do you think? He said he didn't know and left. He will never give me an answer. But after all these years, it's good for me that he didn't give me the answer, which gave me a lot of creative space.
Third, the story of Wong Kar-wai and Acheng.
Acheng is a famous writer and screenwriter. His representative works include Chess King, Spring in a Small Town, furong town and Nie Yinniang the Assassin.
Wong Kar-wai filmed "2046" and asked Acheng to write a script for him. Acheng flatly refused: no script is needed. You don't want to do it here. All you have to do is delete the screenwriter column from your movie.
Hearing that Wong Kar-wai was filming Flowers in Shanghai, Acheng bluntly said: Laojin (the original author of Flowers in Shanghai, Jin Yucheng) is finally going to be angry. Such a director who doesn't need a screenplay must not be serious.
In July, 2020, Flowers in Shanghai was launched, directed by Wong Kar-wai, written by Wong Kar-wai and Jin Yucheng, and starring Hugh and Ma Yili. The film tells the story of Shanghai, and the dialogue is in Shanghai dialect.
