Foshan Impression

During the Spring Festival of 2011, the whole family went to my cousin’s house in Foshan. In three days, I experienced many differences between Foshan and northern cities. This city left a deep impression on me.

1. The environment is very quiet and comfortable.

Although it is winter, Foshan is full of greenery, and tall banyan trees as lush as umbrella canopies can be seen everywhere on both sides of the road. On the whole, the buildings in Foshan look relatively crowded, but apart from the buildings, they are full of green, which makes people feel clean and comfortable. My cousin said that the few days we were there were the lowest temperatures in Foshan, with temperatures around 5 degrees Celsius during the day and light rain. This weather was already very warm for us who are used to seeing white snow in winter. Over the past few days, the pedestrians on the roads, the diners in the restaurants, and even the crowds in the scenic spots always gave me the feeling that the rhythm was slow, slowly watching and savoring, when our lives also follow the rules of this city. When the pace is going slowly, I feel very peaceful inside, and there is a sense of laziness in the tranquility. This is a city that makes people feel more comfortable.

2. Have a very casual devotion to the gods.

Whether it is the Ancestral Temple or Xiqiao Mountain, there are crowds of people wherever you go. It can be seen that Foshan people believe in gods very much, but this kind of belief is different from other places, especially the Ancestral Temple. , there is no such solemn feeling in ordinary temples, everything is very peaceful. It seems that the gods here are friends of Foshan people and a part of their lives, so they can express their good wishes to all places under the eyes of the gods. Toss coins like a game, into the big stone turtles in the pond, into the mouths of small stone carps, and even put coins into the hands and belts of some gods. There is no such imaginary prosperity in the temple, everything is so casual and pious. ?

3. There is a pursuit of excellence in beauty.

The second most profound impression left on me by the Foshan Ancestral Temple is its carved beams and painted pillars. Although those carvings are old, they are still so exquisite and colorful. I am amazed by their beauty. These exquisite sculptures The carvings make me feel that the residents here are striving for perfection in their pursuit of beauty. Unfortunately, my photography skills are limited and I cannot capture those exquisite details.

4. Love traditional culture.

On the day we went to the ancestral temple, there happened to be a Cantonese opera performance at the "Wanfu Terrace". Unexpectedly, many of the people listening to the opera were young people, and they cheered and applauded from time to time. I accompanied my parents and listened carefully for a while. Except for the female host in cheongsam who sang and said "Gong Xi Fa Cai" at the beginning, I didn't understand a word of the other lyrics, but the atmosphere was quite good. . There are very few open-air opera performances like this in Henan. It seems that I heard classic Henan operas like "The Case of the Beauty" on such occasions when I was very young. It’s hard to imagine how many young people would stop and watch if there was such a stage in Henan.

It’s funny. On the day I arrived in Foshan, I asked my cousin if the martial arts street was not far away. Is it really like the martial arts schools in the "Ip Man" movie? This question made my cousin The brother-in-law fell down laughing. In three days, I saw a lot of places and customs. I won’t go into details here, but selected some photos for everyone to understand.
