D3100 is a good entry-level machine. Nikon's entry-level cameras and 18-pin adapter are the first choice for home users, with outstanding quality.

You should thank the friend who recommended you the D3000. If you are not a veteran, you will not recommend the D3000, because the D3000 is Nikon’s last entry-level camera that uses CCD originals. Perhaps in the future, all series of SLRs will no longer use CCD, because CMOS is cheaper and more comprehensive in quality and practical, so basically all models of all manufacturers now use CMOS. But the unique color of CCD, CMOS is estimated that from the time it is born until it is replaced by the next type of sensor, no one can even think of touching the butt of CCD.

So if you prefer direct output instead of PS, then D3000 is an excellent choice. It is probably not sold in the market, but available on B2C. Prices are at freezing point.
