Does photography need a filter?

In photography, especially landscape photography. We need to position the filter correctly. You can't "just say filter" or "say remove filter". Reasonable use, set the relationship between filter and post-processing.

CPL polarizer is very important, and it is the most difficult to replace it in the later stage at present. It can strengthen the sky and clouds and deal with the relationship between reflection and rainbow in photography.

GND's gray gradient filter can balance the light ratio between heaven and earth.

But we can achieve this function through the function of post-surrounding exposure. Especially now, the surround exposure function of RAW format is powerful and the picture quality is perfect, which greatly improves your ability of highlighting and dark details. Moreover, the application is more flexible, without considering the abrupt objects between heaven and earth, and it can better handle the local highlights and shadows in the picture.

ND filter can realize long exposure and slow door opening under strong light.

For this function, we can simulate the slow door by changing a seat in the early stage and taking more shots in the later stage.

What about this picture? I shot it in the capital of Iceland. Is it the effect of the slow door? HAPA Concert Hall in Reykjavik.

The leaflet was taken like this: ISO200, F9 aperture, 1/6 seconds. I took about 200 photos.

Select 80 photos as stack material to simulate the effect of slow door. The key to simulating slow door with stack is short interval and many shots. Otherwise, the atomization effect is unnatural.

Use filters to solve the problems shot in the early stage; Post-processing to improve the level of better works is icing on the cake. What can be solved in the early stage is not left to the later stage. I always use filters in photography and do post-processing. Combining the two is king.
