How to shoot water droplets with SLR?

In this article, I will tell you how to take photos of water droplets. Actually, it's not difficult. You need a SLR camera to take pictures, a tripod and an external flash in manual control mode.

Then, list the props used in this photography:

1, SLR cameras and lenses have the ability to adjust manual focusing;

2. The tripod of the camera;

3. External flash;

4. One 12 liter aquarium (suitable for anyone, depending on the size of the theme);

5. The box (black inside) below the graphics tablet is used as the background;

6. Microfiber cloth can quickly remove the splash on the aquarium background and wall;

7. Plastic bags to prevent equipment from splashing water;

To start using, please prepare the countertop on which the aquarium is installed. Use cardboard as the bottom of the aquarium to protect the countertop from water splashing. At the same time, white cardboard is used as a light reflector at the bottom of the aquarium to produce a lighting effect from below.

Now add about half of the water in the water tank and put it on the table, not far from the wall. Put a background behind you. I suggest removing the splashing water on the dark background (black, dark blue, dark green), because the bright and dazzling water drops on the surface form a perfect contrast with the dark background.

In order to fix it in a vertical position, I just need to fix it on the wall with tape. Make sure that the adhesive tape does not enter the frame, otherwise it will glare and destroy the background.

Now install the camera on the tripod and adjust the height so that the whole frame is occupied by the aquarium. It is best to distribute larger parts and immediately delete unnecessary parts (walls, tables). If you are using a whale lens, please set the focal length to 50-55.

Hmm.

Therefore, we combine the frameworks in the way we like. Aim at the height of the tripod and fix the camera. Now switch to manual shooting mode and set exposure parameters: aperture f = 1 1, shutter speed1160, ISO.

Don't forget to wrap the flash in a transparent glass paper bag to prevent the flash from getting into the water.

Now put the theme (pepper) on the water in the center of the frame. In autofocus mode, press the shutter button halfway to focus on the pepper. You can make and test the focal length. After that, switch the lens to manual focus mode.

So, we are ready for everything. Shoot, a Shoot, to assess the exposure. Adjust the exposure settings to get normal light in the image.

Now stand on the side of the camera and don't block the flash. Put the pepper on the water, and then put it into the water to make it splash. Press the shutter button on the camera while the other hand is projecting. Evaluate the results and adjust the flash position, jet intensity and cutting. If necessary, adjust the composition in the frame. Don't forget to focus every time you change the distance from the theme!

Now keep shooting until you get the desired result!
