Photographic skills of light change at sunset and dusk

Lead; Have you ever tried to shoot a sunset, but the effect is not as good as you want? In addition to the location and weather, time also has a great influence on shooting the sunset. Let's compare the changes of light in the same place at different times when shooting the sunset.

Photography skills of changing light at sunset and dusk The exact sunset time and the effect of light will vary with different regions, seasons and weather, so the following photos only show the change of light with time.

5:00 pm is not the ideal time to shoot the sunset, because the ambient light is too different, the sun is too bright and the foreground is too dark. As a result, the sun is white, but the foreground is dark, and the whole photo has no color. It is better to take pictures of the scenery next to the sun these days, because the light difference is not so big, and the photos can capture the original color of the scene environment.

After a while, at 5: 30 in the afternoon, the sun dropped to a lower position, and the thicker atmosphere blocked more sunlight, so the light difference at the scene began to narrow, and the camera began to capture the sun and the foreground at the same time, and the color of the photo began to become bright. As the sun continues to set, the color of the sky becomes more golden. At this time, the white balance of the camera is adjusted to about 5500K, which can keep the original golden color of the scene. If you like the dreamy sky color, you can also adjust the white balance to around 3000K, and the sky will gradually change from blue to yellow.

At 5: 40 pm, the sun went lower and lower, and the light difference between the sun and the foreground further narrowed. The camera can begin to record the brightness of the sun. (The white balance of these two photos is adjusted to 3500K)

When shooting the sunset at 6: 05pm, many people start packing when the sun disappears, but it is still an ideal shooting time! Because after the sun drops below the horizon, the light difference in the scene environment is greatly reduced, and the camera has enough dynamic range to record the light, so the color of the photo will be particularly saturated. In addition, due to the low luminosity in the scene, it is also beneficial to shoot the water surface with a slow shutter and black card technology. So the next time you shoot a sunset, remember to shoot it black before you leave!
