The Artistic Course of Kazuo Yagi

Kazuo Yagi's contribution to modern ceramic art is enormous. He not only made modern ceramic art move from practical function to pure artistry, but also fully demonstrated the traces and process of ceramic production technology, which was widely accepted as a form of beauty. The aesthetic origin of his new works is to maintain tradition, but the aesthetic orientation is future-oriented. Therefore, Yagi Kazuo's artistic course is more meaningful to us China ceramists. The following points may help us to better understand his works and his mental journey:

Love music since childhood. He often goes to cafes with pocket money to listen to Beethoven's symphonies. From classical music to modern music, he paid extensive attention to it and commented on it with his own musical feelings. He has a good voice. Sometimes after drinking, he will play "modern music" with things around him, such as tapping the microphone, recording the sound of others gargling and improvising. The rich imagination brought by music and the comfort to his soul are very beneficial. We can feel the origin of music from his works.

Perseverance in photography. Kazuo Yagi took a considerable number of photos in his life. These photos fully show his outstanding talent. The composition and artistic conception of his works prove his sensitivity to objects, not only photos, but also videos. His exposition of photography has long gone beyond the field of ceramists.

Education for mentally retarded children. 1954, Kazuo Yagi teaches ceramic production for mentally retarded children in Jinjiang Academy. These children's pure modeling ability and natural love for soil deeply touched Yagi Kazuo. He once recalled: "They created works no less than Picasso, and the children's imagination was simply amazing." Perhaps it was this experience that Yagi realized the source of cause and effect of spiritual purity and emancipating the mind, and constantly created new works. Mr. Samsa's Walking was published in this year.

Meet Milo. Milo came to Japan on 1966, and Kazuo Yagi accompanied him to visit places of interest in Kyoto, such as Guili Palace and Xinle Kiln Site. Kazuo Yagi is convinced that Miro doesn't look at things from other people's eyes and is indifferent to the scenic spots and historical sites in Guili Palace. He just treats his concerns sincerely with his wise eyes. Kazuo Yagi once said: "It is wrong to think that the lines in Miro's works are impromptu and accidental. Miro has a clear grasp of them and freely shows these inner lines. " With Master Miro, Kazuo Yagi benefited a lot.

A taste for wine. It is well known that Kazuo Yagi likes to drink Japanese ceramics. He often said that wine can bring him a happy mood and creative inspiration.
