Wang Jiqing (1968) joined the army on 1969. He has served as an actor, monitor, group leader, deputy instructor, political commissar of the student team and director of the cultural office. Wang Mingbo (Peking University), a graduate of our school in 1980s, is now a doctor at the Institute of Botany, a federal scientific and industrial research institution in Canberra, Australia. He discovered a new way of plant gene control, that is, using the virus defense mechanism of plants themselves. This technology has produced more than 100 patents, which helps people understand the genes of plants, animals and humans. This scientist won the "Prime Minister's Science Award" in Australia in 2007 because of his great contribution in the field of plant gene silencing research. In the field of plant molecular biology, many scientific breakthroughs have been made. More than 30 academic papers have been published in Nature and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and six international patents have been invented, including the expression inhibition technology of hairpin RNA, which has great potential in medical treatment and crop improvement. Xu Daowu (class 1988) graduated from the Foreign Languages Institute of the People's Liberation Army, and is currently a translator in the Second Division, No.7 Technical Reconnaissance Bureau of the Air Force.
