No.893 Huashan Road (former residence of Guodihuo)

Guo Dihuo's former residence is located at 893 Huashan Road. There are two buildings, east and west, covering an area of 893 square meters and a construction area of 800 square meters. This is a garden house with modern architectural style.

This building is a reinforced concrete structure. The west building was built at 1938. The building plane is asymmetrical, and the southeast elevation is the composition center with rounded corners.

Pick out the circular rain house at the entrance of the bottom floor, retreat to the balcony in the shape of a curved ruler on the second floor, and pick out the tongue-shaped rain house. Flat roof, square doors and windows, gray cement brush wall, four-slope cantilever roof, spiral staircase. The room is separated by wide corridors, circular stairs and glass screens. The living room leads to the garden with floor-to-ceiling glass doors. The living room and dining room are separated by a sliding door, which is a grand banquet hall.

All doors and windows are made of double-layer glass, the inner layer is transparent glass and the outer layer is frosted glass. The radiator has bronze cast-in-place guard plates, and the stairs have bronze cast-in-place railings. The East Building was built in 1947 with similar style.

1994 February 15, Shanghai people * * * announced it as an excellent historical building in the city.

Brief introduction of Guo Dihuo

Guo Dihuo (1904- 1986), born in Xiangshan (now Zhongshan), Guangdong Province, was born in Sydney, Australia. 19 18 returned to China to study at Lingnan University. Later, I went to study in America. After returning to China from 65438 to 0927, he worked as an engineer, deputy manager and deputy general manager of Shanghai Yongan Textile Company. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), he has successively served as a representative of Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, a member of East China Finance and Economics Committee, a director of Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, a deputy governor of Guangdong Province, a vice chairman of Guangdong Provincial Political Consultative Conference, a deputy director of Guangdong Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee, a deputy director of China Democratic National Construction Association, a vice chairman of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, a member of the Standing Committee of China People's Political Consultative Conference, a director of China Industrial and Commercial Economic Development Corporation and a member of the drafting committee of the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. 1986 died in Guangzhou on April 9th.
