There are 37 venues in the park, such as bird area, beast area, primate area, large herbivore area, large animal performance field, animal photography field, children's zoo and Shihushan, with superior geographical location.

Hongshan Forest Zoo was built in 1998 and moved here from Xuanwu Lake Zoo. At present, three exhibition areas have been built, namely Xiaohongshan Bird Area, Dahongshan Beast Area and Niufangshan where herbivores and primates live, and 39 newly designed animal venues have been built along the mountain. Liger district, orangutan and baboon exhibition area, Woong San, elephant hall, docile and lovely panda, squirrel monkey, flamingo rainforest hall, popular science hall, amphibian hall and waterfowl hall all gather various natural customs. Large-scale animal performance venues, children's parks and other entertainment facilities allow tourists to enjoy themselves while sightseeing. Hongshan Forest Zoo, with its unique forest and animal characteristics, has shown infinite charm and become another tourist hotspot in Nanjing.

The three main peaks in Hongshan Forest Zoo, Dahongshan, Xiaohongshan and Niufang Mountain, are strewn at random with green trees. More than 400 kinds of plants, from ferns to tall trees, outline lush mountain scenery. The tall and straight cedars, ginkgo biloba, camphor trees, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, slender magnolia trees and red maple are full of moist, fresh and refreshing air, with lush trees and lush green grass, which have become the "ecological green lungs" of the ancient capital.

Hongshan Forest Zoo has formed a certain dominant animal population, including more than 200 species such as Siberian tiger, kangaroo, river deer, red panda, peacock and lion. Rare animals in the park include white tigers, Asian elephants, giant pandas, seals, chimpanzees, black swans and red-crowned cranes. The animal stadium has a large area and complete facilities. The combination of cage culture and stocking is not only beneficial to the protection of animals, but also convenient for sightseeing.

Birds are the earliest wild animals in Hongshan Forest Zoo. The main species are grey magpie, blue magpie, mountain dove, black turtledove, Chinese Pulsatilla and parrot. The park is shaded by trees and covered with green grass, which is an ideal place for wild birds to inhabit and multiply.

Hongshan Forest Zoo has undulating terrain, beautiful scenery and beautiful environment. There are three peaks in the park: Dahongshan, Xiaohongshan and Fangniu Mountain, with the highest elevation of 81.8m. The park is rich in plants, ranging from ferns to tall trees, with a green coverage rate of over 85%. Cedar, ginkgo, magnolia, camphor, Metasequoia, red maple, etc. Form a lush mountain landscape and form a unique feature of the forest zoo. There is a large area of water surface formed by mountain catchment in the park, which has been slightly repaired by manpower and has become a good place for waterfowl to inhabit.

Hongshan Forest Zoo is divided into three parts: Little Hongshan Bird Area, Big Hongshan Animal Area, Niu Shan Primate Animal Area, Large Herbivorous Zoo and Amphibians and Reptiles Hall, with a total of 37 buildings. There are nearly 400 species and more than 4,000 rare animals from all over the world, including white tigers in Germany, ring-tailed lemurs in Canada, mandrills in Japan, chimpanzees in South Africa and color-changing pythons in South America, as well as golden monkeys, langurs, red-crowned cranes, Siberian tigers, red pandas, kangaroos, red muntjacs, green peacocks and Chinese alligators. The unique ecological and natural environment is rare in the city, and the historical and humanistic connotation is the icing on the cake. Hongshan Forest Zoo not only strengthens the construction of environmental protection, but also attaches great importance to the construction of human landscape. On May 1 day, 2004, the "magnificent pavilion" rebuilt at a cost of 3 million yuan stood tall at the top of Dahongshan. It is the only six dynasties pavilion in Nanjing at present. The spectacular pavilion is three stories high. Entering the exhibition hall, the hanging calligraphy and painting, sculpture and calligraphy originated from the Six Dynasties, and the charm of ancient style came to my face. Looking at the spectacular pavilion, you can see the beautiful scenery of Zhongshan and the sparkling scenery of Xuanwu Lake. Visitors can not only experience the culture of the Six Dynasties, but also enjoy tea and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Jinling. Hongshan Forest Zoo is now under the Nanjing Bureau of Landscape Architecture.

In the management mode, the combination of tradition and modernity, and the combination of caging and stocking make tourists feel as if they are in nature, which is not only conducive to protecting animals, but also convenient for tourists to watch.

At the same time, there are many large-scale animal performances, such as lions, tigers, elephants, black bears, monkeys and so on. , thrilling and interesting large-scale animal fighting performances, and unique animal exhibitions such as cage separation, free-range breeding and mixed breeding in liger.
