Reflections on whether photographic works should be accompanied by written descriptions

There is no need to match words forcibly. If the author wants to match, he can't match if he doesn't want to match.

Every art form has its own expression. Since it is photography, subject matter or photographic works, we have a special expression "photographic language". It is also good to match some feelings or explain the shooting background of the work. For photography works with different themes, the meaning of text description is also different. For example, I think text description is still very important for news photography, and others are not so important, but we can't focus on text, otherwise it will become an illustrated article.

Photographers complete the transmission of ideas through photographic language. A good photographic work has a prominent theme and distinct personality, and everything you want to express is in the work. There are three possibilities: I don't understand or have no pronunciation with the author. First, the problem of the work, the work does not use photographic language; Second, the problem of the audience, it is possible that our experience has not reached that level, and we will naturally understand it after experiencing it; Third, both the works and the audience have problems.

A hundred readers have a hundred hamlets. If a hundred readers read a Hamlet, it's not a masterpiece, is it? If a judge grades a work by reading a text introduction, I don't think he should take part in such a competition. For the evaluation of the works by the judges, I think we should look at it with a learning attitude and not be too superstitious about an authority. Personally, I don't think beauty can be measured by scores.

Everything in photography is based on having a good photographic work. So what we have to do now is to take more pictures and watch more to improve our aesthetics, and think more about how to take good photos. Only the foundation can determine the superstructure, and when you can really shoot a good work, the question of whether to match words will naturally be answered.

May we all become photographers, not photographers.

Personal feelings, please advise.
