In the Taishan area, there was a saying that "if you don't go up the mountain, you must first worship Wang Lingguan". This Wang Lingguan is a military general who is a wet nurse next to the Taishan God Bi Xia Yuan Jun. He holds a thunder-gold whip in his hand. It is said that he pulled out the Eighteen Paths under Nantianmen. Since Bi Xia Yuan Jun became the God of Mount Tai, the weather around Mount Tai has been good every year and the people live and work in peace and contentment. In order to thank the God of Mount Tai for his grace, they went into the mountain every day to burn incense throughout the year. However, in ancient times there was only a difficult path with a stone bridge in the middle. In the event of a flash flood, it will be difficult to go up the mountain. Bixia Yuan Jun was very anxious and asked Wang Lingguan to open up a new mountain road. Wang Lingguan came to the Nantian Gate with a fire-thunder golden whip. He waved his arm and threw the golden whip. He only heard "click-click" and the rocks collapsed and the ground cracked. Soon a ten-foot-wide pass appeared in such a large peak, with gleaming boulders as big as millstones. People would be embarrassed if these stones were carried on their shoulders. Yuan Jun of Bi Xia frowned, got the idea, rode the auspicious clouds, floated to the Heavenly Palace, and asked the Jade Emperor to send troops to help build the mountain road. The Jade Emperor immediately sent three dragons up Mount Tai, and it took less than half a day to transport all the stones on the mountain to the back of the mountain. Until now, in a ravine called Shiwuzi behind Mount Tai, there is still a valley full of shiny stones! In this way, building mountain roads saves energy. In less than two months, eighteen panels were made. This is the origin of the eighteen plates. 4. Red Gate Taishan Red Gate is the starting point for hiking on Taishan North Road.
