At present, the department includes two major disciplines: "Opera Performance" and "Public Utility (Art) Management", which is presided over by Lang, a famous Chinese singer and music educator.
I. Scale of running a school

In 2004, two majors and five major directions are expected to enroll 260 students. Based on the practical experience in recent years after the enrollment expansion of colleges and universities, the college has formulated the principle that the major of opera performance must be "strict and precise" and the major of art management must be "broad and strict", and strives to build a new brand major of Sichuan Conservatory of Music. With the progress of the times and the development of society, the demand for professional management talents in various fields in China is increasing day by day, especially in the cultural and artistic industries. There are very few professional managers who know both art and management. From 2000 to now, only five formal art colleges in China have opened the discipline of "art management", a higher education specialty.
At present, the "Public Utility (Art) Management Major" in our college includes four major directions: performing arts strategy of cultural industry management, cultural art administration management and management art criticism.
In order to cultivate qualified compound art management talents, our college has set up many targeted and practical compulsory and elective courses for this major, such as: Chinese and foreign art history, art appreciation, public relations, marketing, business psychology, mass communication, new literature, administration, foreign languages, etc. The teachers of various professional courses are experts and scholars who have made great achievements in their respective fields. The College has also continuously invited international and domestic experts and scholars to give lectures and exchanges, and established contacts with the Cultural Market Development Center of the Ministry of Culture, China Performers Association and other departments to jointly discuss and study the development of the new discipline of "art management". During the four-year study period, the college will provide a large number of internship opportunities for students according to various professional directions, accumulate rich management practical experience in cultural and artistic industries, markets, companies and activities, and broaden students' professional horizons through specific teaching activities such as "successful case analysis" and "virtual case operation". In addition to mastering various majors and basic courses, students must also obtain many certificates such as Microsoft computer certification, planner certification, economist certification, and national Putonghua certificate.
The employment channels for graduates of this major are mainly management occupations related to cultural and artistic industries, such as performing arts planning, art brokerage, producer, performing arts project manager, stage supervisor, theater manager, advertising practitioners, entertainment reporters (editors), entertainment communication hosts, publicity officials of government agencies, publicity cadres of enterprises and institutions, art education managers, art teachers, etc.
