Five-year-old Burmese children with rare tongue tumors have larger tongues than adults.
Pu Shuangting, a five-year-old Chinese girl from Myanmar, was born with congenital tongue hemangioma. With the increase of age, the whole tongue has grown to three times the normal volume, which is larger than that of adults. This situation not only affects daily life, but also involuntarily sticks out the tongue covered with hemangioma when sleeping. Not only that, the huge tongue also affected Pu Shuangting's appearance, diet and speaking ability. Because she is often bitten by her own teeth, there will be a lot of bleeding in her mouth and she needs an emergency blood transfusion. It also led to her long-term malnutrition and anemia, and she could not go to school often. In order to take care of Pu Shuangting's huge medical expenses, she has repeatedly sold her property to borrow money to treat diseases. In August last year, Park Shuangting received treatment in Taiwan Province Province in May this year through the referral of the international medical organization Green Bamboo Society. Li Xiaoping, director of oral and maxillofacial surgery in the Third General Hospital, said that after Shuangting came to Taiwan Province Province, after comprehensive examination, it was confirmed that the lesions mainly occupied hemangioma of the right tongue and floor of the mouth, with a total length of about 10 cm, and abnormally thick blood vessels were found on both sides of the tongue and floor of the mouth. Then she arranged an angiography and performed bilateral lingual artery embolization. After the operation, it was found that Shuangting's brain had a local vascular infarction, the so-called stroke. After treatment, her tongue became smaller and her blood vessel pulsation weakened. However, girls have intermittent headaches and ischemic tongue pain. A few days after the operation, she cried, causing the base of her tongue to fall back, causing severe obstruction of the upper respiratory tract and seizures. The doctor gave drug treatment and observation, and arranged hemangioma surgery and local flap reconstruction surgery again. In order to prevent massive bleeding during operation and maintain airway patency, tracheotomy and right carotid artery ligation were performed first. The operation was smooth and the bleeding was well controlled, which lasted for 5 hours. The doctor said that after Shuangting was transferred back to the pediatric intensive care unit, the inner tube of gas cutting had been removed, and oral and neck wound care and nasogastric tube nutrition feeding continued. At present, the wound has healed well, and speech therapy and rehabilitation of swallowing function are being strengthened. If you like this article, please like it and share it with your friends!
