Waris Dirie (Liya Kebede) was born in the desolate Somali desert. At the age of three, he was forced to undergo inhuman female circumcision. At the age of twelve, his father married a 60-year-old man for five camels. He ran away barefoot and almost lost his life in the desert. Later, she was taken in by the kind Marilyn (sally hawkins) in London, met the famous photographer Donaldson (timothy spall) in the restaurant where she worked, and finally became the world's top model and devoted herself to the cause of women's liberation.
