Huangyao Ancient Town Travel Guide 2020

Huangyao Ancient Town, located in Hezhou City, Guangxi, is an extremely well-preserved ancient town. The simple residents who have lived here for generations still retain many simple customs and traditions, and the business atmosphere is not so obvious. There are so many tourists that it is worth visiting.

Antique old houses, polished bluestone streets and lanes, and beautiful peaks like mushrooms after rain around them together form a touching and beautiful picture. Huangyao Ancient Town, with a history of more than 2,000 years, has always been an important node of the Xiang-Gui Ancient Road and has been prosperous since ancient times.

The tour guide of Huangyao Ancient Town is now known as one of the most beautiful ancient towns in China, and it has become an "art palace of perfect combination of man and nature". It rained heavily in Guangxi this year, and Guilin was flooded. I wonder if Huangyao Ancient Town, which is 0/60 km away from Guilin/KLOC-has been affected.

The ancient town of Huangyao is not small in scale. Most houses in the town are two-story brick structures. When they climbed up the high roof, in front of them, besides the black tile house, there were endless beautiful peaks. The landform here is similar to Guilin, both karst landforms, so there are many similarities with Guilin's landscape, but there is a simple humanistic atmosphere here.

There is a gate in the east, west, north and south of Huangyao Ancient Town. The gate here is far less magnificent than the ancient city Xi 'an, but it is particularly pocket-sized, revealing the simplicity of Huang Yao people. They don't talk about ostentation and extravagance, they just want a quiet life. Taiping Gate is located at the end of Yingxiu Street, which has a very good meaning and is one of the gates of Huangyao Ancient Town.

Walking through the city gate and into the streets and alleys of the ancient town, the old streets are paved with bluestone slabs, and some of them have been polished, as if they had entered the long river of history. The streets of Huangyao are winding, and there is hardly a straight road over 100 meters. Every fifty or sixty meters, there will be a corner blocking your sight, and there are winding paths everywhere, as if there is always a better beauty waiting for you to explore at the end of the street.

Wherever I visit the ancient town, I like early morning. At that time, there won't be too many tourists, and the residents living in the ancient town have just begun to be busy and can get a glimpse of the most real life. The old man sat on the street, picking the vines that had just been picked in the field, and didn't know what to do.

The streets of the ancient town are narrow and cars can't get in, so it retains the ancient charm of quiet tradition and is very competitive. The houses on both sides of the streets are patchwork and have different styles. Most of them are ancient houses preserved in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now most of the houses facing the street have been changed into shops or homestays, but there is not much commercial atmosphere here.

The mottled old wall covered with green plants is very rich in Lingnan style. There are fewer people in the ancient streets and lanes in the morning, less noise and glitz, more nature and simplicity, tranquility and beauty. Everything seems to make people forget the existence of time. When I come here, I just want to stay for a day or two and slowly feel the leisurely rhythm of the ancient town.

The oldest banyan tree in Huangyao, over 850 years old, is a dragon claw banyan, named after its branches hang down like dragon claws. Because of its beautiful legend and couch-shaped trunk, it was named Sleeping Fairy Banyan.

The beautiful mountain peaks everywhere and the quaint ancient houses set each other off, which together constitute the characteristic landscape of Huangyao ancient town. In addition to natural beauty and humanistic customs, the ancient town has left many historical sites, such as Fairy Ancient Well, Dailong Bridge and Sima Di, which are worth watching carefully, and there are many delicious foods waiting for you to taste.
