How to choose a memory card
There are many types of memory cards on the market, with huge price differences. How to resist scammers and choose a memory card that suits you is indeed a difficult thing. Today Ergou hopes that through the introduction of this article, it can help everyone better understand memory cards and then choose a memory card product that suits them.
Introduction to common memory cards:
The memory card market has been developing for many years. Currently, common memory cards on the market mainly include SD cards (Secure Digital Memory Card) and MicroSD cards (formerly known as TF, Trans- flash Card ) two types.
The former specification is 24mmx32mmx2.1mm, and the latter specification is 15mmx 11mmx 1mm. Due to the obvious difference in size between the two cards, it is generally customary to call the SD card a large card and the TF card a small card. The small card can be converted into a large card for use through a special adapter.
In addition to the common large cards and small cards, there are also memory cards such as CF cards and QDA cards on the market. These memory cards have a small range of use and will not be introduced here.
Basic knowledge of memory cards:
In addition to being divided into large and small cards according to type, memory cards are generally divided into capacity and speed.
1) Memory cards are classified by capacity:
SD: The early version has been basically discontinued, with a maximum capacity of 2GB.
SDHC: A type with very mature technology, with a capacity of 4GB-32GB.
SDXC: The current mainstream memory card in the market, with a capacity of 64GB-2TB.
SDUC: The newly launched version has a capacity of 2TB-128TB.
2) Memory cards are classified by speed:
Class level standard:
Early memory card speed levels are identified by Class levels, including C2, C4, and C6 ,C10 multiple specifications. The higher the Class level, the faster the transmission speed. Nowadays, the most common ones are the fastest Class 10 level, referred to as C10. The lower-speed C6, C4, and C2 memory cards have long been withdrawn from the market.
UHS level standard:
UHS (Ultra High Speed) ultra-high speed level is a new bus mode, currently available in three versions: UHS-I, UHS-II, and UHS-III. Achieving UHS standard transmission speed requires device support. Higher versions are backward compatible with lower versions. Those that do not support this standard can be compatible with ordinary memory cards and can be used at lower speeds. The levels of U1 (minimum writing speed 10M/S) and U3 (minimum writing speed 30M/S) are used daily to indicate the minimum writing speed. The maximum reading speed of UHS-I card is 104M/S, while the maximum reading speed of UHS-II card is 312M/S. The maximum reading of UHS-III card reaches 624M/S.
VSC grade standard:
VSC (Video Speed ??Class) video speed grade, including V6, V10, V30, V60, V90 specifications. After the demand for 4K video shooting increases, the video speed level formulated by the SD Association for video shooting applications is identified by the letter V plus the number of the lowest writing speed value. For example, the memory card for shooting 4K video must reach V30, and the slightly higher-demand 4K video must reach V60.
