How to photograph streams
Streams with simple silt structure are gentle and slow, lack of ups and downs, and the photography effect is not good. Generally, the stream with rock structure has a large flow drop. The stream sometimes runs and sometimes flows slowly, and it falls when it meets a small waterfall formed by broken rocks. Different postures, endless changes. In this environment, it is easier to take good photos with rich forms.
Second, it is best to shoot streams on sunny days.
Although streams can be photographed in any weather, the texture level of running water is not easy to show in photos taken in rainy days, and the colors of trees and stones are not good-looking. It is really necessary to use black and white film when shooting in rainy weather or convert digital photos into black and white later, which can improve the photo effect to some extent. If you can choose, it is best to shoot in sunny weather. Even in a stream under the shade of a tree, the sun can't shine. The color gradation of photos taken on sunny days is much better than that on rainy days.
Third, the viewing angle produces different emotional appeal.
Don't stick to the positive perspective when shooting streams, you can take photos with different effects from the angles of prone, lateral lying, looking up, front and back. Shooting the lens with side inclination angle shows the momentum of running water; Elevation shooting, the running water is more spectacular. Don't blindly pursue perfection when shooting, use a slightly longer focal length, only select parts, and highlight the flow of water, the effect will be better. When necessary, adding people or animals such as ducks and cows to the picture will add some life to nature. People and animals sometimes play the role of balancing the picture composition and making the finishing point.
Fourth, the shutter speed determines whether it is ethereal or Pentium.
Exposure at a relatively slow speed, such as 11sec to1sec, can capture the effect of water flowing like practice; If you use 1 minute to 5 minutes, or even longer exposure, you can make the running water unreal, dreamy and have a different taste. To achieve long exposure, you must use a tripod. In exposure, it is not enough to narrow the aperture by light, but also to use a filter, usually a polarizer or neutral grey mirror. Polarizer can not only reduce the speed of the two-speed shutter, but also eliminate the reflection on the stone and part of the reflection on the water surface, making the stream crystal clear. ND8 neutral grey mirror can reduce the speed by one third without affecting the color and eliminating the reflection. If necessary, two pieces of grey mirror can be superimposed to extend the exposure time. However, we should not shoot at slow speed, and fast speed can show the momentum of running water. When it is necessary to show the momentum of running water, we should use a higher shutter speed. The high-speed shutter is preferably between1160 seconds and 1/500 seconds, which can keep a little dynamic; When the shutter reaches11000 seconds, the splashing water can be stopped, which is beyond people's daily experience of watching waterfalls and gives people a refreshing feeling.
