Special evaluation of vivo X50 Pro+ photography: So powerful, it can be called a dazzling skill.
It is not difficult to understand this slightly immoral problem. After all, in this era when the size and pixel number of photosensitive elements are becoming more and more exaggerated, vivo will still use Samsung GW 1, a photosensitive element used by many mid-range models, at the flagship level until mid-2020. It's really a little slow. However, although we are still using Tu-16, the plane that first flew in 1952 (later it was changed into a modern and improved one, which mom and dad didn't know), we finally lost the opportunity to ask vivo this immoral question after vivo X50 Pro+ appeared with Samsung GN 1 photosensitive components.
Of course, aside from the above paragraphs, it has retained its inherent advantages, made up for its shortcomings, and made great progress in the hardware of the main camera. vivoX50 Pro+ obviously has full appeal in the image. For consumers, this is another model of vivo that can have both flagship performance and top-level images, and its performance will also become the latest answer for vivo to understand smartphone images this year.
"Black, black, bright, bright"
The first conclusion is that the subjective performance of vivo X50 Pro+ is more natural, and it is no longer blindly pursuing parameters such as dynamic range. This subtitle quoted from Weibo netizen Keiichi Hara is suitable to describe the actual performance of vivo X50 Pro+, but we still have to start with the hardware and then talk about the look and feel, especially to see the difference between it and other domestic products.
As the first model equipped with Samsung GN 1 sensor, the Samsung GN 1 sensor used by vivo X50 Pro+ has an area of11.3 inches and a pixel count of 50 million pixels. In addition, the size of a single pixel of this photosensitive element is 1.2μm, and four pixels can be combined into a large pixel of 2.4μm, which improves the high photosensitive performance. With the software algorithm, the picture with the maximum of 1 100 million pixels can be output through two photodiodes in each pixel.
Vivo X50 Pro+ has been fully upgraded compared with Vivo X50 Pro in camera hardware. First of all, the main camera mentioned above uses Samsung GN 1 photosensitive element, but this main camera does not use micro-pan/tilt technology to control the volume, but adopts the traditional optical anti-shake scheme; Its super wide-angle camera has been upgraded from 8 million pixels to 6.5438+0.3 million pixels, and the 2X portrait camera has also been upgraded to Samsung GD 654.38+0 photosensitive element, with a default of 8 million pixels and a maximum output of 32 million pixels. The 5X telephoto camera has also been upgraded from 8 million pixels to 6.5438+0.3 million pixels, which is quite remarkable.
What's more worth mentioning is that vivo X50 Pro+ is also equipped with an independent color temperature sensor, probably because of this color temperature sensor, and the color consistency between independent cameras in its camera module is excellent.
Then the problem is coming. Most brands are often not mature in adjusting Samsung sensors. Although vivo is one of the few brands in the market that can adjust the Samsung sensor well, we are still worried about the actual adjustment level of this Samsung GN 1 sensor.
Don't worry, the main camera of vivo X50 Pro+ is worthy of the good parameters of GN 1 in image quality. From the details of the picture, its overall performance will basically not be lost to those models with similar specifications, and the details and solidity of the picture are not bad. However, at present, the low-sensitivity picture of the machine still has a certain smear feeling, but this smear feeling will not obviously affect the impression of the picture, but it will have a certain negative impact on the details such as words.
From the direct color performance, vivo X50 Pro+ can be said to be quite pleasing to the eye. This machine not only has a very accurate white balance performance, but also has a good balance between saturation and perception. Although the saturation is high, it will not lose its sense of reality too much, and it is also very comfortable for the restoration and expression of different object colors. In other words, if you are more interested in looking directly at the picture, then vivo X50 Pro+ is obviously an attractive choice, and you don't need to give up the details of the picture too much for the sake of look and feel.
As for the ultra-clear 1 100 million pixel mode, it sounds very interesting ... According to our test, whether the thumbnail is 50 million pixels or 100% magnification, the details of the picture are basically the same, and the 1 100 million pixel mode does not bring more details than the 50 million pixel mode. In other words, the 65438+ 1 billion pixel mode improves the number of pixels itself more than the image quality.
Although the image quality itself has not improved qualitatively, this 1 100 million pixel mode can't be said to be useless for publicity or daily use. After all, you can open the EXIF page and tell your friends, "Look, my photo is 1 100 million pixels".
However, in some scenes with large light ratio and many dark parts, obvious noise, tailing and pseudo color may appear in the dark parts of the photos taken by the main camera. Although there are not many such scenes in actual shooting, the problems that appear at this time have obvious influence on the impression of the picture. Even if you don't use a relatively high magnification on your mobile phone, you can still see clues, and you still need to update and repair them through subsequent OTA.
Moreover, this problem mainly appears at the edge of the screen, which is similar to the edge collapse problem of many brands when Samsung GW 1 was first listed, so this high probability is also an immature problem of the algorithm.
In addition, the lens quality of vivo X50 Pro+ is also good. Although this lens will inevitably have obvious close-up errors, such as field curvature and coma, there is almost no spherical aberration in the focus part. Moreover, the overall look and feel of the main shot at close range is basically acceptable, and even the nearest focal length has certain usability. Especially in Figure 3 above, the manual mode is adjusted to the nearest focal length. Even so, the image impression will not be softened due to the spherical aberration. Even if the subject is not in the center and can feel the poor telephoto of the close-up, it will not make people feel that such close-up effect is completely absent.
However, at present, the setting of vivo is still to automatically switch to super wide-angle camera cutting in close-up scenes. Although this method can solve the perception problem caused by poor close-up shots at the expense of certain image quality, its excellent color consistency and good switching accuracy also make it relatively good in experience. It can be considered that the main camera of vivo X50 Pro+ actually has certain usability. In fact, an independent switch can be set for whether the close-up automatically turns on the super wide-angle camera. After all, this main camera is not completely without close-up function like some competing products.
In addition, the anti-glare performance of this lens is also excellent, which is absolutely first-class in the current flagship smartphone. Even in the face of the sun, it is not easy to appear large-area glare, and the glare itself has little influence on image perception.
However, because we didn't have the opportunity to compare the same scene with the above four models, this group of contrast samples were taken at different times but under similar lighting conditions, and the most serious angle of glare and ghost was found actively, which has certain reference value, but does not have absolutely strict variable control.
However, just as the HDR algorithm was not perfect when vivo NEX3 was first launched, vivo X50 Pro+ had similar problems. Although the HDR performance of vivo X50 Pro+ is much better than that of vivo NEX3, there is a certain probability that there will be some synthetic bugs at the edge between the foreground and the background in some backlight scenes with relatively large light, which is also expected to be fixed after OTA update.
Moreover, when shooting the edges of plant leaves and petals, the probability of this problem is relatively high, which may be due to the motion of the shooting object, and the algorithm can not complete automatic alignment.
When shooting night scenes, dusk scenes and indoor dark scenes, the main camera of vivo X50 Pro+ can bring bright direct colors, and the overall look and feel is relatively comfortable, especially in indoor environment, with extremely high white balance and excellent look and feel. A simple evaluation of "the black one should be bright" also means that the machine basically got rid of the low-level taste of high dynamic range without brain pile, but made the picture have a relatively rich light and shadow level.
This means that vivo no longer blindly pursues the dynamic range of the picture itself, but hopes to strike a balance between restoring the visual perception of the naked eye and achieving better visual perception as much as possible, rather than taking the brightness, especially the brightness level of the dark part, as the standard. Therefore, when shooting night scenes, we can feel that vivo X50 Pro+ can make some dark parts "dead black", and at the same time give full but not excessive suppression to the highlights that are not overexposed in human perception.
Is this logic good? I thought it was pretty good. Through the performance of these two years, no one will doubt that vivo has the ability to make that kind of brainless high dynamic range straight-out algorithm. It is indeed a courageous thing to wake up under the wave of brainless lighting and brainless HDR at night and bring a more "advanced" night scene that may not please the general public so much.
Finally, there is a little surprise. The intelligent scene algorithm of vivo X50 Pro+ also has better experience perception. For example, it can even identify the types of green plants when identifying green plants, and can identify the relatively small classification of succulents, thus providing a more targeted intelligent scene algorithm. Obviously, for most people's shooting needs, a smarter intelligent scene algorithm can obviously improve the straight-out effect.
To sum up, although the adjustment of Samsung GN 1 by vivo has reached a good level, there is still a long way to go, and this problem needs subsequent firmware OTA upgrade to make up.
When "stronger" meets "better"
The most joyful thing about vivo X50 Pro+ is that the ancestral 8-megapixel super wide-angle camera finally said goodbye to us.
This13 megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, compared with the ancestral 8 million ultra-wide-angle camera, has a very significant improvement in image quality, and the picture details and solidity have been greatly improved. If the ancestral 8 million super wide-angle camera can only solve the problem, then the super wide-angle camera of vivo X50 Pro+ is obviously fully usable now.
Only by personal standards, the usability of the ultra-wide-angle camera below Sony IMX586 only solves the problem, but the ultra-wide-angle camera of vivo X50 Pro+ can obviously regain a city in perception. In particular, this beautiful direct color and excellent dynamic range can significantly enhance the interest in switching to super wide-angle shooting. Its color performance is similar to the main shot, and the white balance is accurate and bright, but it does not excessively affect the sense of reality, and the color consistency is "as usual".
Even in scenes that don't involve large light ratio, the ultra-wide camera of vivo X50 Pro+ will inevitably have the problem of image quality degradation at the corners, but its excellent direct color can basically make me ignore the lack of image quality itself. Considering the common needs of social media sharing, this impressive picture details and solid adjustment are obviously pleasing to the eye, but I want both because of greed.
However, compared with the ancestral 8 million super wide-angle camera,13 million pixel vivo X50 Pro+ super wide-angle camera still has some minor problems. For example, in a backlit scene with relatively large light, there will be large particles and a lot of noise in the dark part. When shooting a building in backlight, the clear edge is prone to obvious purple edge, which has obvious negative impact on the perception and needs to be upgraded and repaired in the subsequent OTA.
When shooting dark scenes, the ultra-wide-angle camera of vivo X50 Pro+ is even more pleasing to the eye. Not only the beautiful straight color is not lost, but also the solidity and details of the picture are pleasantly surprised. Perhaps because of the excellent night scene multi-frame synthesis algorithm, this super wide-angle camera has good purity and detail performance even if it does not use night scene mode.
What's even more amazing is that the light in the dark part of the night scene is obviously weaker than during the day, but the ultra-wide-angle camera of vivoX50 Pro+ has no large particle noise at night, which is smaller and basically monochrome noise. However, considering the low light ratio of night scene, it is difficult to infer this problem reliably at present, but it is obviously necessary for vivo to try to improve it through OTA.
As for this super wide-angle camera, the biggest disadvantage is that the focusing speed is not fast, especially in some scenes, the focusing speed is slow and sometimes out of focus. At present, there is no scene that can reproduce the problem stably, but the probability of this problem seems to be high in the scene with high light ratio at dusk, but unfortunately there are not enough samples left for reference.
It's just that I'm looking forward to the future that vivo can bring a super wide-angle camera of the main camera level, and the requirements are not high. The whole Sony IMX363 photosensitive element is perfectly matched with a lens (preferably with a wide viewing angle) that can ensure the corner quality.
I'm GD 1 back again!
Remember the Samsung GD 1 photosensitive element portrait camera that received rave reviews on vivo X30 Pro but was cut off by precision knife method on vivo X50 Pro? It's back.
The 2X portrait camera of vivo X50 Pro+ can finally reach the first-class level in current smart phones. It not only has the size of 1/2.8 inches, but also can output 8 million pixels by default, with a maximum output of 32 million pixels. Even ignoring the telephoto property of this 2X camera, its parameters are worth looking forward to. After all, the equivalent focal length of 50mm is the classic focal length.
Even when the 32-megapixel mode is turned on, the output photos of this 2X portrait camera still have high usability. The picture details and solidity are at the top level in the 2X focal length camera of smart phones, and the color performance is also very brilliant. The overall trend is bright but not excessive.
More importantly, the picture details and solidity of this 2X portrait camera are excellent. Although it is not top-class (the strongest photosensitive element of 2X camera is Samsung S5K2L7), the details and solidity of the picture are good. Moreover, this 2X portrait camera with an equivalent focal length of 50mm can effectively supplement the focal length between the main camera and the telephoto camera, and the most intuitive performance is that the messy background can be eliminated as much as possible at a place close to the subject.
Also thanks to the quality of Samsung GD 1 light sensor and the adjustment of vivo, the portrait camera of vivo X50 Pro+ also has a good performance when shooting night scenes. In addition to the bright but true colors mentioned as usual, and the good color consistency compared with other cameras in the module, its picture purity is excellent in the dark environment, and the balance between noise reduction and detail preservation is also in place.
For a 2X portrait camera, this performance can be said to be beyond expectations, and better dark image quality can theoretically bring a better impression of night portraits (unfortunately, we didn't take a sample of night portraits).
Unfortunately, the closest focusing distance of this GD 1 portrait camera is obviously a little far, which can't meet the needs of close-ups. It is necessary to know that the 2X camera of the same level on Xiaomi 10 Pro can meet the demand of close-up to a certain extent, and combine the focal length advantage to bring the natural blur effect in close-up. However, vivo X50 Pro+ 2X long-focus portrait camera can only shoot the distant view or panorama of small objects, and can't shoot close-ups or close-ups.
Of course, vivo defines this 2X camera as a "portrait camera". The official statement can be logically consistent, but it will definitely be better to change the lens with a closer focus in the future. Moreover, when shooting portraits, this 2X portrait camera can bring excellent performance in terms of perception and image quality. From the perspective of perception, vivo X50 Pro+ does not grind its face like a rubber mask now, but tends to ensure certain skin texture and details. Skin color restoration can also give consideration to accuracy and perception, but the naturalness of perception and the accuracy of fuzzy matting in some backlight scenes obviously need to be improved.
In addition, vivo has also prepared a rich portrait style for this 2X portrait camera, in addition to the functions of human eye focusing and portrait blurring, there are also rich portrait styles. This also further improves the usability from the side, and it is easier to get started while reducing the later cost. Even ordinary users who have never been exposed to portrait shooting have a greater chance to shoot good films.
However, under the backlight portrait, sometimes excessive HDR effect will reduce the contrast of the picture and have a negative impact on the perception. At present, this 2X portrait camera is more stable with smooth light and side backlight.
As for the shortcomings, this 2X camera will have some clear pictures and some blurred pictures when shooting some scenes.
Considering the black box state of the smartphone camera itself, only the optical axis or algorithm can be proposed. After all, such a small base and an equivalent focal length of 50mm may not make the scenery dozens of meters away appear obvious blur. When we use Xiaomi 10 Pro, a 2X portrait camera with larger photosensitive elements and basically the same aperture, the photos we take are all in focus, not like the above picture. As for the actual cause of this problem, I can only hope that vivo can find a way to find out and fix it.
Just based on this GD 1 portrait camera with good performance, I hope that the 2X portrait camera of vivo can achieve the image quality performance of Sony IMX363 as the main camera in the hardware in the future. This combination of dual main cameras-even three main cameras with a super wide-angle outsole can obviously meet my personal needs, and of course there may be yours.
Periscope telephoto knows that the night is beautiful.
In the version without "+",the 5X telephoto camera of vivo X50 Pro+ is not a compromise level for thinness, but can really reach the first-line level of the current flagship smartphone.
In terms of quality, this telephoto camera can retain very rich picture details, and the overall picture is solid. Although there will be some noise in the dark area, the particles are very small, basically pure color noise, so the actual impression is still relatively good. Moreover, the image perception of telephoto camera is relatively comfortable, and optical defects will not affect the perception.
In addition, the 5X telephoto camera of vivo X50 Pro+ will no longer have the problem that the color of the version without "+"is too dim, but can bring excellent color performance and color consistency. The color of this telephoto camera belongs to a relatively high saturation but not too rich type, which is pleasing to the eye without losing too much authenticity.
And thanks to the excellent color consistency of the whole camera module of vivo X50 Pro+, the camera can basically take pictures with little difference at any focal length. If the built-in modules in the form of digital zoom series fixed-focus cameras are regarded as a whole, the experience they can achieve in the whole process of hybrid zoom is obviously closer to the real optical zoom.
Of course, if the 5X camera of vivo X50 Pro+ only reaches the first-line level in flagship machine, it obviously cannot explain the advantages of this telephoto camera. The biggest advantage of this 5X telephoto camera is not the low image quality (in fact, it is not the strongest), but the excellent night scene image quality and impression. Even in terms of personal intuitive preferences, the night scene performance of the machine's 5X telephoto camera can be said to be the strongest among smart phones at present.
Perhaps because of the overall improvement of night scene algorithm, the 5X telephoto camera of vivo X50 Pro+ not only has excellent picture details, but also has excellent noise reduction performance when shooting dim scenes at dusk, indoors and at night. More importantly, this telephoto camera can achieve a good balance in color saturation, white balance and dynamic range. Although the overall picture is gorgeous, it is not too much, and it is very pleasing to the eye.
Excellent night scene algorithm can be said to endow vivo X50 Pro+ with excellent night scene performance, and can even take photos that can be seen under the condition of poor performance of competing products, and the probability of taking photos with better impression is higher. If you just want to use a 5X telephoto with good performance, then vivo X50 Pro+ may not be the only choice; But if you want to have a better 5X telephoto night scene experience, then vivo X50 Pro+ may be the most suitable choice.
I still remember that when writing the special evaluation of the camera of vivo X50 Pro, the quality and color of the telephoto camera can be said to have left me some regrets, but vivo X50 Pro+ made up for this defect well. This machine has not only made remarkable progress in the details, solidity and color of the picture, but also the night scene performance far exceeds the expected level, which can really bring us surprises.
However, as mentioned earlier, the 5X telephoto camera of vivo X50 Pro+ can't really dominate the whole scene at present, which is where vivo needs to make further efforts in the algorithm in the future.
Unfortunately, the 5X telephoto camera of vivo X50 Pro+ is not perfect. Do you still remember the problem that the 5X telephoto camera and the main camera (or 2X portrait camera) on some flagship mobile phones "jump repeatedly" when they are close to the focus distance? Vivo X50 Pro+ also has this problem. The algorithm itself is "stupid" and may have to take the blame for this problem. From my personal preference, I still suggest that vivo provide the option to switch to 5X telephoto camera hardware. After all, it is not always possible to switch to professional mode.
In addition, this telephoto camera also has the problem of heavy tailing feeling similar to the main camera when shooting during the day, and the robustness of the picture needs to be improved (but it is not the problem at night). In addition, its focusing accuracy also needs to be improved by algorithms. Although the focus speed of this 5X telephoto camera is good, the probability of defocusing in daytime is slightly higher than that of competing products of the same specification.
However ... at present, the telephoto night performance of vivoX50 Pro+ is enough to win high praise for it.
This important exploration can be further explored.
Just like the product definition of vivo X50 Pro+, this model is indeed an important exploration of vivo in taking photos on mobile phones. If it is simpler and more straightforward, it is that this model should be the real flagship of taking pictures-whether in vivo mobile phones or in the whole smart phone.
To achieve this goal, the best and most inevitable solution is "stacking". Customizing the main camera of Samsung GN 1 sensor, whether it is11.3 inches or 50 million pixels, is full of expectations. Needless to say, the returned portrait camera can also be called "sub-main camera" in performance, as well as super wide-angle and periscope telephoto cameras with the same parameters, as well as the flagship processor blessing of ISP with stronger performance and so on. , condensed into the "+"of vivo X50 Pro+.
So what is the actual performance of this photo flagship? It is important to know that stacking materials does not mean good photo-taking ability or direct performance, but the adjustment of vivo makes vivo X50 Pro+ show its due advanced performance. This not only provides a stable and excellent look and feel for each camera, but also has reliable color consistency among multiple cameras, rich shooting functions and modes, and intelligent experience.
From the actual performance, vivo X50 Pro+ and vivo X50 Pro take pictures in different ways, but the direction is actually the same, that is, to become a camera phone beneficial to the general public. Moreover, in ZAEKE Zhike's view, compared with the situation that some competing products give up image quality performance for the sake of impression, vivo X50 Pro+ does not need to make such a choice, which is obviously more reasonable.
However, vivo X50 Pro+ is not perfect at present, so it is necessary to further adjust and optimize the algorithm of vivo, and try to fix all the minor problems mentioned in this paper. ZAEKE Zhike also wants to see the vivo continue to deepen after this important exploration, and copy the experience of vivo X50 Pro+ into the rear module of each new vivo machine, so that the excellent main camera, clever portrait, super wide angle and periscope can go further and even reach the comprehensive image quality performance of "main camera level".
After all, today's flagship smartphones are not short of focus market segments. What they lack is high-level performance in more or even all key areas.
