What are the skills for 5D3 to take pictures in dark light?

The above two friends may not have actually filmed it in the dark with 5D3.

I don't know how much LZ means, but when it comes to how to shoot 5D3 in the dark, the first problem to be solved is not how to set the ISO sensitivity.

but

How to focus

Because 5D3 has no flashlight device to focus, if it is in a dark environment, 5D3 can't focus in the case of insufficient light, that is, it can't shoot at all.

There are two ways to deal with this problem:

First, this is what I often use, that is, to prepare a small flashlight, very small, with an assistant or friend to help you hold it at the person or object you want to focus on to fill the light, so that you can focus normally. Turn off the flashlight after focusing and shoot normally.

Second, raise the ISO to about 6400 or higher, and then shoot with real scenes. This is equivalent to turning on the function of a "night vision device". You just have to try. It is still convenient, but it will affect the shutter response speed. I don't like this.

(The specific ISO value depends on the actual environment at that time. According to experience, if ISO3200 can cope with gray scale, 5D3 can barely focus without supplementary light, so if it can't focus, at least ISO6400 or higher sensitivity should be used, which is a harsh environment. )

After focusing, let's talk about ISO photosensitive settings.

Because it is a dark condition, whether the light is enough for 5D3 focusing or not, ISO level plays a key role in the final quality of photos!

In this case, it is necessary to use a tripod to stabilize the camera as much as possible, so as to obtain enough shutter time and stability and reduce the ISO value as much as possible.

For example, if you are shooting scenes and still things, even if you set the shutter time to 1 minute, try not to let the ISO exceed 400 (in certain cases, the lower the ISO, the longer the shutter time is required). The tripod will let you set the shutter time without pressure!

Another is that if you shoot by hand, you must ensure a certain shutter speed, so the ISO should be adjusted higher. In this case, the intensity of "noise reduction function" in Canon camera must be set to "standard" and never set to "high". Because setting it to "high" will seriously affect the sharpness and clarity of the photo, and the photo will be blurred! Remember, remember!
