1899 After the signing of the grass borrowing contract for the Jin-Pu Railway in May, the German Meng 'an Bridge Company chose the bridge site for the railway crossing the Yellow River. On August 1908 and 12, German Meng 'an Bridge Company and the General Administration of North Section of Jinpu Railway formally signed a contract to build the Yellow River Bridge.
When the project was about to start, Ding Dayi, a highway engineer in Shandong Province, considered that the pier blocked water after the bridge was built, which would easily cause hidden dangers in river defense, and asked the German Meng 'arn Bridge Company to increase the span of bridge opening and reduce the pier, although many consultations failed. 1908 12.30, the Ministry of Posts and Communications sent Zhan Tianyou, consultant, China railway engineering expert and chief engineer of Beijing-Zhangjia Railway Bureau, to Jinan for coordination. Starting from the north bank, pier 1 ~ 7 and the north and south abutment are reinforced concrete piles, which are driven by steam jet grouting pile machine, with a total of 1270 piles. During the construction, the "lever method" is used to test the load of piles, and the bearing capacity of each pile reaches 150 tons, which is twice the design bearing capacity. Pier No.8, No.9, 1 1 are pneumatic caissons for pile foundation, and pier No.0 10 is pneumatic caisson foundation, and caissons are sunk by internal excavation method. In order to avoid flooding, wooden row piles were built around four piers, iron piles were used at corners, excavated in the piles, filled with stones, and then the piles were capped with cement.
The piers and abutments above the whole bridge foundation are all poured with concrete, and the surface is inlaid with stone.

This bridge crosses the Yellow River levee in the way of level crossing. In order to ensure the smooth flood control and emergency rescue of the Yellow River, an auxiliary road is built on the north side of the left bank diversion levee and the riverside side of the right bank.
