What are the shocking discoveries in Sanxingdui?

Everyone knows that the reputation of Sanxingdui resounds throughout the country and the cultural relics circle. It has become a major performance in the history of cultural relic excavation and has also taken a new step in the study of our country's history. This enables my country's five thousand-year-old culture to be viewed again by people and historical researchers.

During the re-excavation of Sanxingdui, a series of cultural relics were unearthed, some of which are shocking, some of which make people laugh, and some of which make people lament the cultural traditions of five thousand years. And the majesty of distant ancient countries.

Among them, the shocking discoveries unearthed include:

Jade cong with sacred tree pattern

The jade cong with sacred tree pattern found in Pit No. 3, the entire artifact is made of whole It is made from a piece of off-white jade, with the sacred tree pattern engraved on the corresponding lines on both sides, and the incisions are very shallow. The jade cong with the sacred tree pattern has never been seen before, and it provides an important basis for modern people to study the significance and symbolism of sacred trees in ancient Shu society.

Animal-faced jade square seat with phoenix and bird patterns

The jade square seat with animal-faced phoenix and bird patterns found in Pit No. 3 is 13 cm long, 9 cm wide and 6 cm high. It is a single piece. Cut from blue-gray jade material. The object is a rectangular parallelepiped with a round hole in the middle of the upper surface. The side lines of the square seat are engraved with animal face patterns and phoenix and bird patterns, which is a typical Sanxingdui style. This kind of jade seat with this kind of shape and decoration has never been seen before.

Large-scale altar

The bronze altar newly discovered in Pit No. 8 is large in size and unique in shape. It can be divided into three parts: platform base, human figures, and mythical beasts. The platform base is divided into three layers, gradually shrinking. The first layer of platform is plain, the second layer of platform has shallow relief decoration on the surface, and the third layer of platform has hollow decoration. There is a platform above the base, on which three groups of figures are cast. On the bronze altar discovered this time, the different images of multiple people seem to describe the roles and behaviors of different people in the sacrificial activities at that time, recreating the sacrificial scenes at that time, and provide information for studying how sacrificial activities were carried out and how the Sanxingdui sacrificial pit was formed. Very important information.

Large Bronze Standing Human Beast

The upper half of the large bronze standing human beast found in Pit No. 8 was covered with a layer of ash and a small amount of ivory fragments. There is a single horn on the head, and a bronze figure stands on the single horn. The height of the entire object is about 90 cm and the length is 85 cm. This large-scale bronze mythical beast is the largest animal-shaped bronze work seen in Sanxingdui.

Golden Mask

This is the golden mask unearthed from the Sanxingdui Site No. 3 "Sacrificial Pit" photographed at the Sanxingdui Archaeological Research Institute of the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology (photographed on September 2) . The whole body is golden and the face is gilded, reflecting the manufacturing technology of my country's metal products.

According to Sichuan Guan News, on March 23, the dating of the Sanxingdui site was released to the public. The Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology and Peking University analyzed 73 charcoal samples from six pits in Sanxingdui using the carbon 14 dating method, and made a preliminary determination of the age distribution range: Sanxingdui Pit No. 4 dates from about 3,200 to 3,200 years ago. 3000, the age range belongs to the late Shang Dynasty. The excavation of the Sanxingdui site is progressing smoothly and more than 500 cultural relics have been unearthed.

According to China News Service's report on September 8, the archaeological excavation of six newly discovered sacrificial pits at the Sanxingdui site is more than halfway through, and nearly 10,000 cultural relics have been unearthed. There is a large bronze outcrop at the corner of Sacrifice Pit No. 8. According to the observations of the archaeological team, the shape of these bronze vessels has never appeared before, and may be a new discovery of national treasure level.

At present, Pit No. 3, Pit No. 7, and Pit No. 8 have undergone the greatest changes, especially the excavation of Pit No. 7 and Pit No. 8, which has entered a new stage. After a period of excavation, Pit No. 7 and Pit 8 have entered the burial layer of artifacts, and a large number of ivory tusks have been exposed. Pit No. 8, the largest area, after a period of cleaning, a large number of ivory can be seen covering the pit. Previously, archaeological team members tested with metal detectors and found that there was a strong metal reaction in Pit 8. They speculated that a large number of metal artifacts would appear in Pit No. 8.

According to reports, judging from the current situation, Pit No. 7 and Pit No. 8 have some similarities and are currently in the cleaning stage. No bronze objects have been found in Pit No. 7, but a large number of ivory and jade objects have been exposed. The excavation of Pit No. 3 is progressing relatively quickly and has entered the final stage. Only some artifacts in the northern part have not been extracted. It is expected that all field excavation work for the six sacrificial pits will be completed before the Spring Festival. The re-excavation of Sanxingdui has made a major reform in my country's cultural relics circle and even in the world's historical research and cultural relics circles. At the same time, it has witnessed the long-standing culture of our country for five thousand years and the wisdom of our country for five thousand years. At the same time, the large number of excavations at Sanxingdui has made a huge contribution to our country's confirmation of the history of Sanxingdui and its application for World Heritage. The excavators and inspectors behind the scenes also worked hard.
