People who often write have great potential (learning writing from big coffee series 69- Ni Kuang)

Ni Kuang is a famous modern writer. Together with Jin Yong, Huang Zongxi and Cai Lan, they are called "Four Great Talents". His writing covers a wide range. A set of 145-volume Wesley series, more than 300 movie scripts, and countless creations covering detective, science fiction, genie, martial arts and romance have established his position in China's literary world. What's even more rare is that he only has a junior high school education, and he almost relies on self-study.

When I was a child, I didn't want to be a writer. From primary school to middle school, I am determined to be a traveler, or you can call it a travel writer. That may be influenced by the story of Li Shizhen and Xu Xiake. When I was a child, I read Xu Xiake's travels and wanted to travel very much. My motivation for writing is to make a living; The second is for interest; Third, because I have no other skills, writing is my only ability to make a living.

When asked how to become a best-selling novelist, Ni Kuang casually said-the moral is simple: start writing. Write at once. Keep writing. As long as you start writing, you will write better and better. People often ask who is the most potential science fiction writer today, and the answer is the same: people who often write have great potential.

-when the manuscript is the largest, I will write twelve martial arts novels at the same time, pull a rope on the wall and put every story to be written on the rope with a small clip. It's time to write this today, so take it off and write it for twelve days at a time; If you want to write that tomorrow, take it down and write 12 days, within 20 thousand words at a time. It takes me less than five hours to write 20 thousand words. It's very simple. You can also rub mahjong tiles when you have time. I don't know how I can write so much every day. This is the only thing I can eat. Generally speaking, I can write nine 500-word manuscripts in an hour, excluding spaces and punctuation, up to 3000 words. The record is 4500 words an hour, which is the so-called "revolution plus despair" speed.

Of course, like every famous writer, Ni Kuang loves books, although his education is not high-I have been very lively and gregarious since I was a child, and I will go around with my friends, playing marbles and crickets. But because I don't like being bound and competing with others, I don't like participating in group activities, especially competitive activities, so I have to read books whenever I have time, and I love books unconsciously. I like reading novels best. At first, I read popular novels, such as Xue's Journey to the East and his Journey to the West. Later, I read various types of folk stories; Secondly, China's traditional novels. Before I was almost twelve years old, I had read all the traditional novels of China. When I was in primary school, I watched the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the Water Margin and the Romance of Ghosts and Ghosts. I didn't understand it at all when I watched Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio, so I chose some of the shortest ones. I have seen a dream of red mansions, but I can't understand it. When I was a soldier, I watched the Dream of Red Mansions the most, and I also watched the works on redology. In short, I will be optimistic about the novel. If the first thousand words of a book are not good, I will not continue reading.

-I also read foreign novels, and I have already read profound translated novels in middle school. It can be said that I have read almost all the beautiful foreign novels you can name, whether written by British writers, French writers, American writers or even Russian writers, and many of them have been read several times. I have read a lot about Sherlock Holmes, Agatha? I have also read many novels by Christie. I like Pushkin best. His short stories are well written and more legendary than Wesley's. I read many books every year, including Jin Yong's novels, strange stories from a strange studio, Water Margin, Dream of Red Mansions and so on. Looking back on the past, you can learn new things and gain something every time.

I have a special skill: I don't know when to start. When reading a novel, those words will become pictures in your mind, so reading a book is like making a movie picture in your mind, which is very interesting. When I write a novel, I'm actually describing the picture in my mind. Others write "serial novels" because they use the same main characters to write stories, or they will consider that there will be no contradiction between stories. I won't. Many ideas put forward in my different novels are inconsistent. I don't think this is a problem. I just write different possibilities in different stories. In the final analysis, writing a good novel is the most important thing.

I think there are only two kinds of novels: the good ones and the bad ones. A good novel must have rich plots and vivid characters. If the novel is not well written, no matter how much knowledge, truth and artistic value it contains, it will be useless. The responsibility of a writer is to write works that make readers forget to eat and sleep. I think my novel is very good-looking, otherwise my book will not be read for decades, and new readers will continue to join. My novel has at least three points: striking atmosphere, strange plot and ingenious conception. When writing a novel, I will mumble from time to time and read the dialogue in the book, and it is spoken in Mandarin, not Cantonese, to see if the dialogue is smooth. The dialogue in some novels is not what people say at all. When I write a dialogue, I will substitute that role and that environment to conceive, so that I can write it vividly. The dialogue is vivid, the plot of the novel is easy to develop and attractive to read.

In my opinion, a good novel should include vivid and individual characters, tortuous plots and plain words, which can form an attractive story. How to write it specifically? I can share a simple equation for writing a novel: "the first half is good, the middle part is useless, and the second half is good", that is, the beginning of the article should be wonderful and eye-catching; The middle paragraph can be full of nonsense; The ending should be wonderful and leave a good impression on readers. The ending is as complete as possible, but it cannot be complete; How big is the demand for a book that only sells for tens of dollars? My writing is not a literary creation, but only to meet the needs of the supplement.

Regarding "writing nonsense", the Hong Kong Writers Association once held a novel training class and asked me to be a lecturer. I told the students, "Everyone wants to know how to write a novel. In fact, writing novels is very easy, as long as there are a lot of boring ones. " And I got booed. That's the truth. I told them, but they didn't believe me. If it is not boring at all, any complicated bridge can be explained clearly in a few words. How can a novel be considered a novel? It's just an outline I'm the worst at writing outlines. When I was writing a movie script, Lowe asked me to write an outline of the story of the movie and let him invest it in his boss. I also told him that he didn't know how to write. I'm not good at telling stories, I can only express them in words.

I don't have a careful plan to write the script. I talked with the director for tea once or twice, talked about the general idea, wrote the abstract on cigarette wrapping paper and went home to write it. I never write novels with my heart, but before I start a story, there is always a general plot, but when I formally write it, it will change, and sometimes it will be completely unrecognizable. The most typical example is Lake Water, written in 1969. At the beginning, I was going to write a story about "upper body ghosts". Later, because such an idea was really unacceptable to the society at that time, the incident was distorted into man-made and became neither fish nor fowl. After the Lake, ten years later, I wrote Charcoal, which actually admitted the existence of the soul in the story, because I personally experienced at least two ghost events, which could not be explained clearly from any scientific point of view, so I couldn't help but believe it. ﹞

The inspiration of writing is, of course, something that every writer cares about. In this regard, Ni Kuang also generously talked about many of his experiences-books, newspapers, magazines, television and movies are all my sources of inspiration. You don't need to collect it at ordinary times. Interesting information will come out on its own. I often think of a story based on the content of a report because it is very interesting. For example, Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio contains many materials that can be developed into science fiction. Science fiction can be written without superstition or scientific explanation.

-Wesley Story, I personally like One Place best, but when it comes to the most satisfactory story, Seeking Dreams is both tortuous and bizarre, with an unexpected ending, and it will always be my most satisfactory one. The inspiration for "Seeking Dreams" comes from my own experience. I often had the same dream since I was a child, and then I simply started with it and compiled the complete dream in "Seeking Dreams".

Growing up, I dreamed when I fell asleep. My dream is very strange and continuous. Sometimes I have the same dream all week, wake up in the middle of the night for a while, and then I can continue my original dream, just like watching a series. Those dreams are too many to remember, but the really wonderful ones will be recorded immediately as writing material. At least 20% or 30% of my novels are inspired by dreams.

Even my subjective wishes are rarely projected in the story. The only exception is "one place", which is my ideal country. Writing with a voice-activated computer is not faster than writing with a pen and paper, because I have to spend more time on what I see and hear, which is the source of many stories. What I have seen and heard can be used in novels as long as it can bring me inspiration and association. For example, in the Daxinganling forest region, I met a man whose face was licked by a bear. I was deeply impressed by his modeling. Later, in the book Charcoal, I wrote a similar figure. 195 1 I lived in Suzhou for three months in the spring of last year, and some experiences at that time were later written into the book bewitched. In the local "mysterious temple", I saw an extremely obese woman who could sit on a long bench alone. This is the prototype of Wen Jiabao's mother.

I have had many hobbies of playing with things, such as raising fish, growing flowers, collecting shells, carpentry, cooking, classical music and so on. And they all changed from infatuation to madness. I'm a shell expert! I used to work with Mr. Lourde in the name of Ni Cong? He wrote an academic book "Hong Kong Baby and Conus", 1975 published by Hong Kong "Xinchang Printing Company", and wrote a story called "Shell". I thought of writing about transparent people because I saw transparent fish commonly known as "glass cat fish" when I was raising fish. I like to play with the stereo, and suddenly I had a whim, so I wrote a story that ancient sounds were accidentally transmitted to modern times, called "Ancient Sounds".

-My novels often incorporate history.

Events. I think as long as you understand a period of history with your heart and try to figure out the people, places, things and things at that time, the story you wrote will naturally be believed. Some plots, which readers think I am fictional, are actually true. For example, a key little battle in Betrayal is really in history, and its name is "The Battle of Meng Lianggu".

Another reason why my novels can be believed is that I like to write what I am familiar with. Some people say that my novels in rural legendary style are the best, because I have been familiar with the background of those stories since I was a child, and they are natural and vivid to write. This may also explain why I write fashion stories better than costume stories, and why I don't like watching science fiction stories that take place in distant aliens and distant future.

Coincidentally, my novel was published in the newspaper. I tried to serialize it many times in the middle, and something happened in real life, which was consistent with what I said in my story. I put those news into the story, which should also improve the realism of the story. The examples I remember are atomic space, changing heads, backup, heaven and man, and so on.

About others:

-Wesley's story, I have never said that it is "science fiction", but the publishing house insists that it is science fiction, and I have no objection. The publishing house gave me a book. I don't care how to design the cover, what color to use and so on. What do you care about all this? What people want to see is not the cover, but the content; The most important thing about a novel is whether it is good or not, and whether it is science fiction or not is not important. I seldom read science fiction. There are not many domestic science fiction novels, and foreign ones are not good-looking. Like Asimov, he is called "the father of science fiction", but I think his works are boring as hell, hahahaha!

-It was unintentional to write "Wesley Story" at the beginning, and it was unintentional to publish a pamphlet. At that time, I was only familiar with writing martial arts novels, and most publishing houses were not interested in publishing science fiction. Later, it suddenly occurred to the person in charge of Ming Pao Publishing House that they had a batch of discarded paper that was too rotten to throw away, so they used it to publish my science fiction. Unexpectedly, the sales volume was good, and more and more readers read my science fiction novels, so I began to form an indissoluble bond with science fiction.

-When changing the old version into the new version, I mainly use the "deletion method" to delete unnecessary plots or dialogues as much as possible. Why? Because I think the main line of the story is the most important. When the sub-line is serialized, it may make readers read it with more relish, but when it is compiled into a book, it will make the rhythm of the whole book not bright enough.
