Chocolate is made from cocoa beans, which contain theobromine that can poison cats and dogs. Dogs like chocolate best, but cats are very sensitive to theobromine. Theobromine belongs to methyl xanthine, and the most famous chemical in this series is caffeine, which is also contained in chocolate.

The ability of enzymes in cats to metabolize theobromine is lower than that in humans, and theobromine has great influence on digestive system, cardiovascular system and central nervous system. Symptoms caused by theobromine poisoning include diarrhea, vomiting, rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, overexcitation, convulsions and even death. If you think your cat ate chocolate, please call your veterinarian and take it to the pet hospital for emergency treatment.

The crude protein, crude fat and metabolism in adult cat food are higher than those in adult dog food. Cat food contains taurine, but dog food does not. Taurine is an indispensable nutrient for cats. Lack of it will cause many kinds of harm to the cat's body, so you can't feed it with dog food.
