I didn't take a picture of the city at night, as if I had never been to this city.

You need to pay attention to these places when shooting city night scenes:

Shooting time selection

The best time to shoot the night scene of the city is the blues moment from sunset to the sky darkening. The sky is like a blue curtain, setting off this colorful city. The city scenery taken at this time is very beautiful.

Attention should be paid to avoid strong light sources when shooting, and the exposure compensation should be slightly reduced on the basis of average metering.

Shoot with multiple exposures

When shooting at night, I always want to shoot a special artistic conception. There is no more artistic picture than a full moon hanging high in the air. But shooting the moon requires a 200mm telephoto lens, otherwise the moon is too small and easy to be ignored in the picture.

Double exposure can use the camera's own double exposure mode, or you can use the post-processing method to synthesize the moon into the night sky. Pay attention to leave enough space for the moon when shooting.

As we all know, there is not enough light at night, so shooting needs to let the lens enter more light. Of course, the image quality of many cameras is very poor, and we can only increase the amount of light by adjusting the aperture and shutter speed. You can try a large aperture if you have a close shot. If there is a distant landscape in the picture, you need a smaller aperture to control the depth of field. At this time, it is necessary to adjust the shutter speed to more than 5s to ensure sufficient exposure of the picture.

I have to mention the tripod here. Long-term exposure can't guarantee that the hand-held imaging is not empty, so you can only use a tripod, preferably with a wired amplifier. It takes a long time to take photos of traffic and stars, so a suitable tripod is very necessary.

Cable release can prevent the camera from shaking slightly when the shutter button is pressed.

Some people don't understand how much the improvement of ISO (sensitivity) affects the image quality. In fact, this is related to the performance of each camera. Some cameras can withstand less graininess at higher sensitivity, while others can only use low sensitivity. We made such a comparison:

On the left is ISO 100, and on the right is ISO3200. You can see that the picture on the right has obvious graininess.

Doesn't mean you can't take a good night view without a tripod. As long as you keep the lens stable, you can shoot it.

It's still clear to put the camera on the bench and camera bag on the side of the road without the help of a tripod.

The night scene is not only about taking pictures of tall buildings, but also about the colorful lights in the streets.

The bustling pedestrian street and business district are good places to shoot local night scenes.

The light projected the shadow of the fence on the wall, showing a beautiful pattern.

Shooting the night scene with a large aperture highlights the main body, while blurring the background light source into a light spot, giving people a vague feeling.
