The two-week study of engineering survey has ended. Through this internship, I deeply realized the importance of integrating theory with practice. The investigation area is our school. Although the survey area is not large, the survey map is the plan of our school.
Measurement is first and foremost an accurate job. By studying surveying in class during my school days, I have formed a basic and theoretical surveying outline in my mind. The purpose of practice is to link these theories with practical engineering. Surveying is a science that studies the shape and size of the earth and ground points. The main task of measurement is to determine the position of ground target in three-dimensional space and its change with time. In the information society, the construction of information superhighway, basic geographic information system and various thematic and professional geographic information systems urgently needs to establish a unified standard and accessible survey database and survey result information system. Therefore, surveying has become the most reliable and accurate means to acquire and update basic geographic information. There are many classifications of surveying, such as; General survey, geodetic survey, photogrammetry, engineering survey. As a student of water conservancy construction engineering department, we should learn all aspects of measurement. Surveying and mapping is the basis of these professional knowledge.
Through this internship, I learned the practical ability of measurement and had more endurance in the face of difficulties; I also exercised a lot of my own surveying and mapping skills. First of all, I am familiar with the use of fourth-class level and theodolite, proficient in the use of level and theodolite, and mastered the inspection and calibration methods of instruments. Secondly, in the process of checking and correcting data, we should know the sources of various measurement errors, mainly including instrument errors, observation errors and external influence errors, and understand how to avoid and minimize the measurement errors, that is, to achieve:
A. In the choice of instruments, we should choose appropriate high-precision instruments.
B. Improve the measurement level and reduce the error level.
C. Reduce the error through various mathematical methods of data processing, such as changing the length of the scale during ranging and taking the average value of many measurements.
In addition to being familiar with the use of instruments, understanding the sources of errors and measures to reduce errors, we should also master a set of scientific measurement methods, and follow certain measurement principles in the measurement, such as "from the whole to the part", "controlling the part first" and "from high to low" to achieve "step by step inspection". Doing so can not only prevent the accumulation of errors and find them in time, but also improve the efficiency of measurement. Through engineering practice, I really learned a lot of real things, such as being more proficient in the operation of measuring instruments and leveling, and learning things that I can't do in class, such as drawing digital topographic maps and measuring damaged parts, which greatly improved my hands-on ability and brain ability.
In this internship, we also learned that in order to do a good job of measurement, we must first master basic theoretical knowledge, and each team member must practice it in person. In the process of practice measurement, it is impossible to be completely error-free. We must persevere, continue to retest and recalculate again and again, and we will continue to learn from experience. And teachers' guidance, we encountered some difficulties in the internship, and the teachers' patient explanations helped us solve the problems in the measurement.
During the internship, we inevitably encountered some difficulties. Before we realized this, I was a little worried that I couldn't measure it well. I'm afraid I can't finish the task on time, because I am the leader of the team. But after repeated measurement by our team, we overcame some problems in the measurement and completed the task on time. In the process of measurement practice, we also encountered various difficulties. For example:
1. When setting the ruler, the ruler should be set in an important place. So it's important to choose a point. The point must be selected in a representative place. It should also be noted that the more points, the better. On the contrary, choosing too many useless points will not only increase the labor and time of measurement, calculation and drawing, but also lead to large errors due to too many points.
2. In the process of measuring with level and theodolite, some working procedures have large errors. After our repeated measurement, the error range has also been reduced to the allowable range.
We haven't touched the total station before, so we didn't know how to use it when we got it, which brought some difficulties to our measurement. Under the guidance of the teacher, we learned how to use the total station so that we can use it skillfully.
4. There is also the problem of calculation. The calculation must be done by two people, a preliminary calculation and a test. However, in this process, there is still the problem of calculation error. We got the correct value through repeated experiments and tried to minimize the error. It's more difficult to check, but I think it's difficult because I was not good at calculating before. In this internship, I learned its calculation method again, and now I can calculate and check it myself. Suddenly I feel that the inspection is not as difficult as I thought.

Through this study, no matter which link is missing, you can't complete the task, any step and link are indispensable, and you can't make mistakes. Therefore, the measurement is the working principle of "from the whole to the part", "controlling the part first" and "from high to low", which can be checked step by step. Therefore, measurement is inseparable from the efforts of each of us and the cooperation of the team.
As far as the whole practical measurement is concerned, we have learned a lot from it, but it also shows that we still have many shortcomings. I hope to remember this experience and lesson in my future study, strive for perfection and do better than this one!
