Zhihu users commented on the payment event: "Don't disturb God's perspective."
Q: Do you support this protest by WindowsPhone users? Why did you oppose such activities in the past? Have you ever ridiculed the behavior of WindowsPhone users? What's your attitude towards such activities now?
A: Support this activity. Because at that time, this kind of indiscriminate protest was harmful to the ecology. I used to ridicule, and I still ridicule the brainless spray of some (many) users. I (the author) support such activities against Ali, but I don't support launching such a large-scale protest against any other enterprise except Ali.
Q: Why did you oppose such activities in the past?
A: I (the author) am a preacher of Microsoft ecology. My support or disapproval of an activity reflects my assessment and judgment of the ecological impact that this activity can produce. In my judgment, some activities last year were completely unreasonable by WindowsPhone users.
First of all, as a small platform, it is natural that the support of third-party applications is not in place. It is almost impossible for users not to know the ecological defects of WindowsPhone when purchasing. They should not indiscriminately attack third-party application vendors for this reason.
For example, WindowsPhone users forcibly transplant a game without cross-platform capability to WindowsPhone platform, so I won't support it.
Because first of all, the cost of game porting is very high, especially when your engine can't natively support WindowsPhone, this cost will increase greatly. It is better to make a new one on this platform than to transplant it.
Secondly, there are plenty of games on WindowsPhone, but there are not many games in China culture. But it is enough to meet the user's game needs.
Thirdly, more and more games have good cross-platform performance because of Unity engine. There are more and more excellent Unity-based games in the WindowsPhone App Store. Cross-platform game developers (especially conscience-paid games and conscience online mobile games) have benefited a lot from the WP platform, and will naturally notice the goodness of WP in the following works. Over time, it will form a virtuous circle. This is much better than other means such as user protests.
I (the author) give another example:
If WindowsPhone users forcibly transplant a small and medium-sized third-party iOS application without cross-platform capability to WindowsPhone, I will not support it. The reason is similar:
1, they have high transplant costs and small companies. They need to spend money on the cutting edge, postpone landing WP, or give up WP, which is completely understandable;
Their software is basically not irreplaceable. Until today, I haven't encountered many third-party small and medium-sized applications on WindowsPhone that other platforms can do but WP can't. In the WP ecosystem, almost any software always has substitutes, and often the quality is not bad, or even better to use.
Such a protest may be counterproductive for independent studios or small and medium-sized companies. This is extremely unfavorable to the whole ecology.
In both cases (and similar cases), I will not support user protests. Even I will take the initiative to stop them.
Q: Why are you so positive this time?
A: Because Ali does not meet all the above conditions that can make me (the author) not support WP users' protests.
First of all, Ali's products are irreplaceable in China. Ali's Alipay and Taobao have absolute de facto monopoly positions.
It can be said that many people are inseparable from Amazon, JD.COM and Dangdang, all e-commerce platforms and payment platforms other than Ali, Taobao and Alipay. Because there is no second viable B2C2C platform in the whole network, there is almost nothing you can't buy on it; No other payment platform is so widely supported, and there is almost no money you can't spend on it.
The combination of Alipay, Taobao and Tmall almost means invincible. Although Tmall's experience is not as good as JD.COM's. Obviously, JD.COM is slightly inferior in product type and platform scale. Taobao and Alipay are completely irreplaceable. So this forms a de facto monopoly.
When you form this monopoly, your corporate responsibility is no longer the responsibility of an ordinary enterprise. All countries in the world are very cautious about monopolistic behavior, and there are also many restrictions on monopoly giants.
You can look at the practices of other monopoly giants.
Microsoft: Microsoft is in a de facto monopoly position in Office, providing mainstream service support for almost all platforms. And it's hard, and the software on the competitor's platform is also excellent-at least there is nothing better than it. Its equipment support coverage can cover more than 99% of the equipment on the market. Even platforms such as BlackBerry and SailfishOS, which are one or two orders of magnitude smaller than WindowsPhone, benefit from the compatibility of Android.
Blackberry: In the field of mobile mail and information services, it is also an industry benchmark, if not a de facto monopoly. Provide good cross-platform services. Even WindowsPhone.
Twitter and Weibo: Open API, let developers develop port by themselves, and cover almost all platforms by themselves. Twitter can even communicate with Facebook.
Facebook and everyone: provide platform-wide support. You can also connect with other social networks.
So how did Ali do it?
Ali updates the application every two years, Alipay updates it twice last August, and then 20 12.
I (the author) want to tell all my friends who washed Ali's floor:
1, Ali is a monopoly enterprise, and can't take whatever it wants according to the requirements of ordinary enterprises. It is not wrong for enterprises to pursue profits, but it is a big mistake for enterprises to be so irresponsible, not to mention breaking their promises after making promises.
Since ancient times, it is unique for any enterprise to treat millions or even tens of millions of users in this way. I can only think of comparing with oil companies and EMS. All in all, in the eyes of these millions of users, Ali should belong to a company that bullies customers.
2. Users' requirements for basic application functions are completely reasonable, and users have the right to scold if the application is not good. It is basically impossible to say that iOS users did not give a star to low-quality applications in their early years, and that Apple and Linux users did not abuse Tencent QQ and various online banking in their early years, because I am one of them.
So please pretend to open your eyes and users will comment less. You think you are helping an enterprise to deal with 10 million "hooligans", but this time "big hooligans" are on your side, so please put away your attitude of sticking to two sentences before and after you understand.
3. With regard to costs and benefits, first of all, how much does it cost to give a new platform, develop an Alipay with perfect servers and simple porting functions, and find someone to maintain and transplant new basic functions?
Even if10 million users bring a dollar each year, it is conceivable that it is good to outsource the client as in the past.
