Film Review
."The Immortal in the Painting" is one of my favorite Zuxian movies. This is not in terms of the quality of the movie. The overall quality of Zuxian's movie is not high. Among similar movies, it is obviously not on the same level as "A Chinese Ghost Story" as a whole. So I like it, maybe because the image of Zu Xian in it is the ultimate in tenderness and resentment, and in the film, the female ghost Mochou played by Zu Xian takes the scholar Cui Hongjian (played by Wu Qihua) to fly into the fairyland in the painting. , is the most unforgettable thing in Zu Xian's movie, especially the moment when Zu Xian slowly turns around. When I saw it for the first time, it seemed that sadness suddenly filled my chest. No matter what, the girl's heart at that time The eyes are so beautiful and pure, it makes me feel like I will never let go.
This supernatural film directed by Wu Ma has obvious traces of stereotypes like "Chasing the Sun" and "Spirit Fox". We can roughly guess the plot and ending. Mo Chou was originally a bride to be married, but before she could meet the groom, she was robbed of her bride by the ghost king Nine-tailed Fox (played by Li Meifeng) on ??her way to the wedding. Unwilling to be humiliated, she threw herself off a cliff and became a lonely ghost. When scholar Cui Hongjian was in poverty, he became friends with Shier (played by Yuan Biao), the adopted son of a Taoist priest (played by Wu Ma), and stayed at the Taoist priest's house. The two "people" met by chance during the Lantern Festival and fell in love at first sight. Mo Chou avoided the beautiful woman painted by Hongjian. But Mochou was not tolerated by the Taoist priests and was kidnapped by the Nine-tailed Fox. Cui Hongjian and Shier sacrificed their lives to rescue them, and finally moved Yan Chixia to enter the underworld and defeat the Nine-tailed Fox. Unfortunately, Mochou and Cui Hongjian did not survive. And escape, eventually becoming the fairy soul in the painting.
One difference between the drama "Painting" and "A Chinese Ghost Story" is that "Painting" is purely centered on love, and all contradictions and oppositions revolve around it, while the relationship between heaven, magic and humanity The opposition is not obvious. The image of the nine-tailed fox is beautiful, but she is hurt by love, so she hates human love and marriage. There is no ghost image in the play, nor does it deliberately create a terrifying atmosphere. Mochou and the scholar Cui Hongjian are both passionate. Needless to say, even Yuan Biao also has a vague relationship with the little girl at the market stall.
I am almost never moved by the love in any drama, because the love in most dramas is for show. What I pay attention to is the pure and pure part, such as Zu Xian, I always feel that she has some very pure beauty that no one has and is difficult to achieve.
Wu Qihua's scholarly image is very "standard", and his performance in the film is also quite satisfactory.
Needless to say, Wu Ma's image is not much different from "A Chinese Ghost Story". Yuen Biao continues his humorous style, and the play also incorporates many gag elements. Humor is unique to Hong Kong movies. Affinity. Overall, the film is still an above-average film among Hong Kong supernatural films.
