How to choose a topic for news papers
1, the topic should be based on interest.
How to find or choose the topic of the paper? When writing a paper, if the professor doesn't specify what kind of topic to write and needs to choose a topic by himself, then the author must first consider that he must have a strong interest in the selected topic and be willing to do more in-depth discussion. The simplest reason is that the author has to spend a lot of time to contact and study this problem. From reading and searching for information to analyzing and writing, if you are not interested, you will get twice the result with half the effort. Interest is the driving force of all actions. As the saying goes, "a good man is not as good as a happy man", and the ability to be happy is unremitting, faithful and in-depth. With interest, we can exert our potential and make contributions. Therefore, if the professor does not specify the topic and scope of the research report, the author can weigh his own interests, academic background and conditions, and what courses he has studied in the past to decide the appropriate topic. When discussing scientific research, Mr. Tao once said: "A person's real life often contains many interests, and many discoveries and inventions in history are also caused by interests other than research. Single-minded interest belongs to only a few people, which is not necessarily a sound phenomenon. But in research work, we must have this attitude of studying for research and working hard for understanding. " (1) This interest in exploring the universe and the spirit of being scientific and realistic are essential and the most important conditions for writing a paper.
2. Be prepared for the selected topic.
People who do academic research must understand the appropriate background of the topic. Before writing a paper, although the author does not necessarily need to be fully proficient in the selected topic, he must make appropriate preparations. Pay attention to whether foreign languages are involved in the topic selection. If you don't have a good foreign language foundation, you only know the characters of your own country or region, so the data collection will be incomplete, the viewpoint will naturally become narrow, and the difficulties encountered in the research will inevitably increase. In addition, the research of modern social science and natural science needs appropriate research tools, such as statistical methods. It would be thankless to engage in the research of such statistical survey data without proper training.
3, the topic should be practical, not vague.
Don't be vague and unrealistic when choosing a topic. If the topic is too vague, the concepts are easily confused, and it is not easy to draw a clear conclusion and find the key points. The result must be meaningless, aimless and useless. This kind of paper is not mentioned in modern science, but it is of little value to the research itself, despite the hype.
In addition, some topics are often not worth spending time on. We often hear "make a mountain out of a molehill", and there is no need to make a mountain out of a molehill about some small topics, especially things that are well known to women and children; But when it comes to overthrowing the axiom known to women and children, it is not only necessary to make a mountain out of a molehill, but also worth doing something special.
4. The topic should be novel and practical.
The purpose of academic research has the significance and value of connecting the past with the future, and any research paper should be practical, so it is better to choose a novel, practical and real-life related topic. If academic research is based on personal interests and completely ignores the needs of the times, it will become empty talk and has nothing to do with human life. Although we don't use narrow materialism to criticize academic value, academic research will easily become absurd, wasteful and meaningless if we completely abandon functional goals. Therefore, theory and practice must be applied to each other. According to the above reasons, it would be great if the topic of the paper can conduct new research on new problems, discover new theories and create new principles. However, we can also study old problems in new ways. When studying old problems, we should first ask, is this problem worth studying again? Has the amount of information increased? Is the previous method of studying this problem still feasible? For example, the writing of stereotyped writing has long been abolished. If someone is engaged in the research on "how to write a good eight-part essay" now? Or "the practice of eight-part essay", even if the practice of eight-part essay can be thoroughly studied, it is not beneficial to modern scholarship after all. In addition, we should be careful not to choose a topic that is too new, because the topic is too new and the information is often not enough for in-depth discussion, which may force the author to give up halfway. At the same time, a research report must be based on facts, need to refer to many different materials, and cannot be fabricated out of thin air.
Step 5 avoid controversial topics
Academic research focuses on objectivity, and all metaphysical or long-standing problems are often influenced by subjective feelings and cannot be supported by objective scientific facts. For example, when discussing whether there is a real friendship between men and women, it all depends on the attitude of both parties concerned. On paper, it is often irrelevant.
So avoid subjective or intense topics. At the same time, because the most important condition of research papers is objectivity, scientific data is the basis of conclusions. If researchers have a strong subjective consciousness, such as choosing "Looking at Modern University Life from Toilet Literature" as the topic, then at the beginning of writing, their attitude will be difficult to be objective, because students who doodle in toilets are only a few among college students, and it is inevitable to generalize the whole modern college students from a few, unless we can study this issue from another angle, such as "Looking at the life changes of extreme students (or boring students) from toilet literature", so such a topic should be chosen. In addition, when writing a paper, we should try to avoid unrealistic personal opinions, and at the same time, we should not only state one side of the problem, nor lose the objectivity of the paper.
6. Avoid highly technical topics
One of the important purposes of academic research is to explore new knowledge and open up new academic fields. However, we must do what we can, or we will accomplish nothing. So in principle, we should avoid highly technical topics. Unless it is a research report by a few experts, it is only a pick-up or some superficial experience for a general physics student to write a paper on the discovery and influence of J particles. For beginners, this is a thankless research work, and it is not a suitable choice.
7. Avoid direct biographies.
A biography with a direct narrative can easily lead to an encyclopedic article, or become an attempt to make a final narrative for someone in a short time, which is a very thankless job. Usually, it is practical to choose a certain period in a person's life, or a certain aspect of a work, or some events that affect this person's life as part of the term paper report of college students. Because it is not easy to write biographies for others.
8. Avoid making abstract papers.
Although the accumulation of knowledge must be comprehensively analyzed, it is not in line with the practice of modern papers if it is only comprehensive data without new topics and arguments. Therefore, unless there is a new point of view, just repeating the arguments that others have discovered is just a job of frying cold rice, which has no academic value.
9. Don't cover too many topics.
The scope of the topic should be small, because it is too big, but it is not easy to start. Some people tend to choose big topics when writing articles. They think that the topic is wide and there must be a lot of materials. But they don't know that the bigger the topic, the more information, but it is difficult to read it carefully, the harder it is to organize into chapters, and the more difficult it is to have a system. If you barely make an article, just talk in general terms, it is inevitable that all diseases will be different. On the other hand, if the topic scope is small, the materials are easy to collect and sort out, and the viewpoints are easy to concentrate, it is often possible to achieve a breakthrough beyond the previous knowledge field from careful research.
The size of the topic is mainly determined by data, and the availability of data often depends on time and space. The author of the paper must have a full understanding of the nearby library and environment in order to know which topics have enough information to write about.
